This is where people are not listening and instead hearing what they want to hear. No one is saying a teacher must be armed. What is being said is if you are a school employee and you can pass a background check or get a concealed carry permit and you would like to participate, YOU CAN! No extra pay, but I do think local law enforcement should provide some basic training a little above and beyond a conceal carry class. Perhaps allow them to use Law Enforcement ranges on weekends or something.

NO ONE is saying that all teachers must be armed. Same thing with the FFDO program that arms pilots, some participate and others don't and a terrorist never knows who is armed and who is not.

ETA: I am not directing that at you but the teachers and lefties who seem to want to shoot down this idea of arming teachers. If 2 out 9 are willing to do this, that may be about all you need. Just knowing that there are armed teachers at the school would deter most of this crap.

There are a lot more people sitting back yelling "arm the teachers!" than people are willing to admit. Of course teachers should be given the option to carry if they wish, but to expect them to do it is dumb. Similarly, I heard a clip from someone at the CNN thing last night talking about how instead of arming teachers, we need to be training teachers and students to see warning signs and how to handle that. Really lady? That's the other side of the same coin of adding more responsibility to teachers, and students. Teachers are teachers, and not clinical psychologists, for a reason and it's asinine to keep heaping more responsibilities onto teachers with this whole, "here, you handle it." attitude. Yes, there will (hopefully) be teachers who take it upon themselves to do what they can to prevent or mitigate pending tragedies, using either or both of just those two mentioned strategies, and that will be fantastic.

I'm trying to reconcile how a teacher would have their career nuked if they smacked a kid in the head for grabbing a girls ass or beating up a younger student, but we're supposed to jump the gap to tell teachers "Hey, if any of these kids gets really out of hand, go ahead and put them down." Of course gun grabbers also don't want their kid smacked at school, and people who are okay with arming teachers may be okay with little Timmy getting some outside of the home discipline, but during these highly emotionally charged periods immediately after tragedies, I don't see a lot of amicable breakthroughs happening.

This is very telling, not just about democrats but how divisive everything is. Very good observation!

The Dems, AKA mainstream media, are using these kids and parents to their advantage for the midterm elections. What better time to arrange and televise these meetings than when grief, in-mass turns to anger? Especially when the shout downs and name calling is encouraged! It was like a pep rally.

These people should be ashamed, I feel sorry for all of them who lost family or friends and really hope they find peace but right now they are being played.
