Did you contact your friends local sheriffs department to see if they are still processing renewals & applications ? And that they are not temporarily suspending processing these like Arapahoe County ?
Might want to make a phone call before going.

If I followed advise here, I'm glad I didn't and renewed in January even though mine did not expire until March. As a resident of Arapahoe county I would be in this shit show right now being essential and unable to carry.
As far as i know, el paso is processing renewals. They are not doing in office meets for new permits. That would seem to stop new ones.
JeffCO is now doing renewals and Emergency by secure email. https://www.jeffco.us/677/Concealed-Handgun-Permits
You should always renew as soon as they'll let you. DO NOT WAIT.

Applicants may submit a completed application, proof of residency (a valid Colorado driver's license, Colorado ID or Military Photo Identification) and $35 within 120 days before the permit expires.
Polis suspended requirements for in-person prints and application for new concealed carry permits and recommends counties issue temporary 90 permits after you pass a BGC.

Still up to the county Sheriff's to work it out and still appears to require the in-person training requirement.
I notice he also snuck in a suspension of the requirement for CBI to issue a final decision within 30 days for a denial.Quote:
Here is the related excerpt of Executive Order D-2020-029:
I. I temporarily suspend the “in person” requirements related to the application and issuance of permits to carry concealed handguns (Concealed Handgun Permits) contained in C.R.S. ?? 18-12-205(2)(a), (2)(b), (3)(a), (3)(b), and (4)(a). I also temporarily suspend the requirement in C.R.S. ? 18-12-205(4)(b) that a sheriff shall take two (2) complete sets of an applicant’s fingerprints to submit to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI). In assessing each Concealed Handgun Permit application, I strongly encourage sheriffs, in order to maintain safety through social distancing, to first consider issuance of a temporary emergency permit pursuant to C.R.S. ? 18-12-209 (valid for an initial period of ninety (90) days) if appropriate, and second, to conduct a Colorado Crime Information Center (CCIC)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) check of each applicant to determine whether the applicant is eligible to possess a firearm pursuant to 18 U.S.C. ? 922(g) before issuing a Concealed Handgun Permit. During the effective period of this Executive Order, sheriffs may issue Concealed Handgun Permits pursuant C.R.S. ?? 18- 12-206 or -209 upon completion of the requirements of C.R.S. ? 18-12-205, as modified by this Executive Order. Upon expiration of this Executive Order, I strongly encourage sheriffs to revisit and reevaluate permits granted under this Executive Order for compliance with all of the mandates in C.R.S. ? 18-12-205.

K. I temporarily suspend the requirement in C.R.S. ? 24-33.5-424(5)(b)(II) that CBI render a
final administrative decision regarding the denial of a firearm transfer within thirty (30)
days after receiving information from the transferee that alleges the transfer was
improperly denied, to provide CBI with additional time to complete these duties in light
of the support they are providing to the State during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the
expectation that CBI will fulfill these duties as soon as practicable.
Fwiw, I took my offical class a few weeks ago. Bday present to myself of sorts. Took my private instructor out to my range. Nice day & a bit of normalcy to boost my spirits.
Now I'm without avenue to get my chp until Denver opens up again, less someone knows something I don't.
Quick question for a friend who moved to Denver from Florida... he has his concealed permit from there (with a current valid issued card) & wanted to know if there is a resource when he can look up the rules to transfer/renew & if it is even transferable between these two states. Seems he inquired a couple of places, Blucore & others & no one could answer his questions. If you all know, id appreciate a link, please.
Apologies if there is already a post that would answer my q - I must have missed it.
Once he's a resident here, his Florida card no longer works. I believe he has to jump through all the same hoops as first time people do.
I believe Irving is correct. Has your friend checked the county sherrif"s website?
I'll let him know. Thanks.
Excellent point.
Good luck with the permit, CN. Now that I have mine again, I'm reminded by how much I missed having it. By the way, if I'm being very polite and non-confrontational, I'm probably carrying. [Coffee]
Looks like the whole pandemic thing threw me off my game.
My permit expires in early July.
Went online to make my appointment to renew and the earliest available date was in late June. Looks like I?ll miss the expiration date by a few weeks.
At least from what I can tell it will just cost me a little extra. If it goes over by 180 days then I?d basically have to start over.
Among other factors, Colorado doesn't honor non-resident permits. Even if you have reciprocity with another state, if you're no longer a resident of that other state, CO will not honor the permit. That said, whatever training (if any) he completed to obtain his FL permit MAY be valid here, if it was completed inside of the last ten years and he still has a certificate. CO simply requires a safety course, it isn't overly specific about it.
The regs are very unspecific. The course over at Guns for Everyone explains that.
Washington state passed a requirement that anyone buying a semi-auto rifle has to complete safety training and get a certificate. They were so unspecific that you can take an online course that's a few minutes long and print your own cert.
Politicians think they're experts at everything, but they're really stupid. Reminds me of the Demotivators.com poster about meetings: "None of us is as dumb as all of us"
Point is Politicians are the least knowledgeable people on about everything, except how many phone calls, media news keyword points ,were screwed in regards to a free future, that makes any sense.
Unless ?

My renewal letter arrived today. I'm in El Paso County. The document is a lot more thorough than it had been. They also don't accept personal checks anymore; money order or cashiers only. You can carry a gun, but we don't trust you to write a check...
Oh. And the form now has to be notarized. Jeez.
Mailed the renewal info on April 3, received the new permit today, May 8. Not bad.
My renewal is due in October, currently Boulder County is only doing renewals via email or snail mail applications, sounds like less of a pain in the ass than having to go in, wondering if I should just renew now? You can renew up to 4 months ahead of the expiration so June should work?
It was painless. I scanned the documents they wanted and emailed them. I got a call from them a few days later and I gave the clerk my credit card, she was very pleasant to deal with. My permit expires on the 16th and she said I should have my new card in time with no interruption.
Quick "how screwed am I". I got my permit almost five years ago now (expires in a few weeks) when I lived in Golden (Jeffco). I now live in Denver, what's the process for a cross-county renewal? I totally expect there'll be a few week gap between my permit's expiration and when I get the new card, just hoping I don't have to start from scratch.
ArapCoSO lobby has re-opened for fingerprinting and CCW permitting. They are doing some lobby reno, so it is by appt only. Call 720-874-3929

We will continue to follow the online process only for all Concealed Handgun Permit requests to include new requests and renewals. Please read below
Perfect timing. Mine expires this month and I should really get on that.
I am. Dang.
I set my appointment about a month ago and the soonest I could get was the end of June. Mine expires at the beginning of June so I?m sure I?ll have to pay extra for not renewing it before the expiration date.
You would hope that they cut you some slack. It isn't like things have been anywhere near 'normal'.
In DougCo you can renew by mail.
So, got a message from the sheriffs department telling me they cancelled my appointment for my renewal.
Called them back and they gave me options. I could either do some sort of mail in but it would have to be postmarked like pronto or they could reschedule me.
Odd thing is when I made my appointment for late June that was the earliest I could get. After the reschedule, I am going next Thursday. Looks like I?ll be renewing one day before my expiration instead of three weeks after.
Maybe I should buy some lottery tickets?
I hope the same happens for me. I think mine expires today and my appointment is sometime in August.
Cluck, cluck.
Maybe.
Denver didn't like my proof of address, so had to email that to them, but they requested it a few days after I submitted the renewal so at least they're working quickly.
