They only scare animals if the noise is accompanied by hunting pressure, IMO. Where I hunt, the elk and deer hang out right next to the loggers all year because they aren't being shot at.
Maybe some of those loggers leave some food out for them and come back in the fall?
I came up short, 1/3…. Got a buck deer tag but not an elk or antelope during the first draw. I’ll put in again second draw, just in case.

I was really hoping I could put in for cow elk in unit 34 during second rifle. I guess not. Bummer. I already have a bull tag for muzzleloader so I can't get over the counter bull.
Bummer seeing hunt codes available that you put in for and didn’t manage to draw in the first round, would be interesting to see who the people are that don’t collect/pay for their tags if it leans heavy towards the non-resident side or not.
This has made me mad for a while. Always frustrating to see. Then you likely have such a small chance of getting them in secondary draw.Quote:

No pronghorn in the secondary draw for me. I'm still going though, because two new hunter buddies some how drew doe tags on zero points.

I was able to put in for the same tag as my buddies drew, I just wasn't successful is what I meant. I really thought there was going to be a lot more variety for the second draw than there was, like 2nd rifle cow elk in my other unit, for example, but there wasn't.
I put in for 5 different pronghorn tags in the 2nd draw and didn't get any of them.. Also put in for two deer, wasn't really expecting my first choice but was surprised I didn't get the second, was an obscure south eastern Co white tail tag that always has left overs every year. Seems that people on some of the Facebook groups were just putting in for anything without understanding what it was. One guy posted that he drew an Elk tag for 140 and had done some research on OnX and was asking for some ideas of where to start.. I told him that the only public land was Fisher Peak State Park and Lake Dorothy State Wildlife Area.. Good Luck! I feel like when Colorado dropped the requirement for up front payment that it has just opened up the doors for anyone and everyone to throw their hat in to the ring whether they know what they are doing or not. On top of that I've dozens of people picking up tags that are private land only tags or whatnot without having any understanding of what that means and then asking online if anyone knows of a good spot..
Maybe a lot of new people to the state? There were always people who would get tags for places they knew so little about. I think the internet may have made it worse.Quote:

I think you can get two, and they are only something like $40/ea. I just don't know anything about where to go in Wyoming. I need to do more research. I just got an enormous freezer and need to fill it with meat.
