Just think what that ink will look like in about 5,300 years.

:D
I think it'd be cool as hell to have the same tattoo as someone had 5,300 years ago.
Being originally from the east coast, I lost friends in the Trade Center's on 9-11. I wanted a perpetual memorial to fallen friends and brothers.....
Might as well join in:

My 1/2 sleeve is older than some of you guys posting here (got it in 1985)
I still remember the first time the needle hit my armpit. It didn't tickle
Joe, I got my first one just 30 years before you, 1955 in Fort Riley, KS (actually Junction City, KS). Maybe you were still in diapers or at least training pants way back that long ago... Back in those days, the artist would wipe your arm with a big old sponge soaked in nasty looking water from a porcelain basin - the same bloody water just used on the guy before you. Don't really want to do that now days. I'll have to get a picture of the last one that I had done at age 72. Hey it's never too late and I do not have to be concerned about some dip shit (is that one word or two?) employer being critical of my ink.[Beer]
the old sponge and bucket era. my early ones were done that way. the artist had the tubes and needles laid out in a rack soaking in some form of lysol disinfectant (if any at all) shaved your body part with a straight razor and used a sponge or paper towel to wipe the area.
My parents hadn't even met in 1955. . . my mom was 12
my father tells me similar stories of the quality of sanitation when he got his in Puerto Rico while he was in the navy in the late 50's early 60s.
Thats cool we have a tattoo thread here! I just did this on a friend recently

Now THAT is an awesome tattoo!
Glad you bumped this thread. I saw a guy with an interesting tattoo a while ago that I wanted to tell you guys about. It was a news style video camera with a 6 position AR-15 stock and a vertical foregrip with a trigger. He said "Video is my weapon of choice, and I shoot to kill." I thought it was pretty cool.
Here's my latest addition to my tattoo collection; time to get these legs done...'
Very nice! Who was the artist?
here's my guy's info if anyone is interested. He tattoos out of his house, so his rates are better than a shop, and he's clean, legit, etc.

I designed this one. Got it to celebrate my 25 years of being a cancer survivor. Next month it will be 30 years and now I have to decide how I want to show it as being the 30th year. [Help]

All of these are sweet Tats!! I'm still thinking of another 1 or 2 just not sure what yet?? [Beer] Ink & "Arms" the kind that go bang!!
http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/...too20small.jpgHey SA Friday, that's what i call bad ass!!
Do it like that old rockwell painting. The sailor has a list of names on his arm. All of them have a line through them, yet you still see a new name added.
SO.........under
Survivor
do this....... +5
Something simple to convey your life without cluttering up the original design. More is Less.
I would also add some more shading / gray wash to the darker areas of the NO symbol. This will pump some new life into it and bring the design together with out going overboard.
Then every 5 years another +5
Heres a couple Ive done recently:

Question for everyone do you guys use the same artist? The guy that did my koi passed away so I need another artist
My artist is freez. He owns pleasure and pain. T-giv uses him too and i yhink spliefy also
Thanks buddy. [Beer]
Okay I gotta ask what's a piece like that cost? You can PM me the price if you want.
Not at all buddy....
Okay prices are like this, I charge $100 an hour. If its something that Im gonna be on for a couple sessions, I throw in some extra hours just to help my friends out. ESPECIALLY if its a piece that Im into.
Shop min. is $50, anything above that is usually $80-100 if its somethin I can knock out pretty quick.
That spartan skull I knocked out in a day, I think it was around 7 hours, I charged him around 4, so I gave him 3 hours on me. He tipped REALLY well.
ALWAYS tip your artist! They get to actually keep their tips and it makes them feel like you appreciate the work you just got, not only that, but we remember that and youre gonna get priority over other people.
I dont pay for my tattoos so i just tip him very good.
Nice. Really nice work bro.
Thanks buddy. I really like fixing stuff too. Heres a before and after.
Notice the LACK of feet holding the banner....and lack of eye....or head. And the tail feathers were the wrong perspective.
