My Dad was a state trooper and would practice all his hand-to-hand and arresting techniques on me constantly...being taken down like a bad guy was all in good fun but it also kept me well informed he could kick my ass in a second if I got out of line. And it made me a pretty darn good wrestler too.

Welcome to the United States of Pussification. You can't touch your kid. You can't talk to them in a elevated voice. You can't do this, make sure they wash their hands 300 times a day, they always have to have a helmet and full knee and elbow pads, no staying out after dark, keep your children on a leash... waaa waaa waa! What happened to talk back get popped in the mouth? Soon as my dad's hand touched his belt buckle we shut up, sat up straight, and stopped crying. And to this day I cannot name one time the belt actually came off. Why? Because the belt would have been a welcome change from the hand, but the hand was always faster than the belt. Too bad now you can't discipline your children. Hit them and they'll call social services. And teachers are too damn nosy also! They see a bruise and it's always "Sit down, now tell me, who hit you, your mother or your father?" Stay out of discipline and I'll stay out of teaching my kids about photosynthesis.

Come on you know the government always has our best interest in mind. They know better than we do how to raise kids, just look at America today. How the hell did I ever grow up. I should be dead with all the crap I did and my parents let me do. And spanking wholly shit my dad, neighbors dad, grandpa, and coaches should all be in jail.

My pop kept us inline with out a hand, belt, or raised voice...
cuz when your 4 and your dad tells you " your brother george did that once" and your reply is " but I don't have a brother george!" his retort "well not anymore" you tend to stop doing whatever it is your doing and get in line.

sure by the time we were 8 or 9 we realized there never was a george... but my pop ( 20 years air force ) always had a little evil gleam in his eye when he said it... kinda just scary enough to make ya wonder... .

Had a buddy of mine that spanked his kid in a box store once and some hairy-hippy-stick-their-nose-in-your-business type gave him a nasty look and (from what he said) was about to say something when he piped up with:

"Anything comes out of your mouth, you're next."

She scurried away, and to this day the image just makes me lmao.

The problem isn't the kids, its the fact that parents these days don't understand that if you strongly discipline your little crumb cruncher when he's 4 you don't have to bail him out of jail when he's 17 (or worse identify your little angel's body at the morgue once I shoot him for breaking into my house).


Also it kinda rubs me the wrong way that as a childless couple my wife and I are treated like second class citizens a little too often.

It's every where.

As a single father of 2 boys I am constantly amazed at the behavior of other children. My boys weren't allowed to act the way I see 10-12 year olds acting when they were 2!!! unreal to me how a parent can just let their child scream bloody murder and cry in public!!!
this kind of behavior has never been tolerated in my boys. I remember once my oldest trying that mess in the grocery store when he was about 3 because he couldn't have something. He was immediately removed, we went out to the car and had a talk (yes i rarely have to spank) and that was that. first and last time I was forced to remove one of them from a public place.
I honestly think a major part of the problem is that a large portion of children these days don't have a father around to take care of business and keep the kids in line.
That being said I have no intention of shopping somewhere that bans my lads. However I suppose at a higher end restaurant I could understand it. Hell half the time its my boys that comment on other children's behavior as they find it embarrassing. Good lads those 2 are.
