Anybody else get suckered into buying a Ruger SR556?

The reason I got into Piston is because I am so sick and tired of spending good 30 minutes to clean the DI ar15. Whereas, It takes me about 5 minutes to completely clean FS2000 ; which has gas piston.

I traded my DI AR long ago on this forum. FINALLY got myself an AR again! [Coffee]

Took 2 AR's out last Sunday, A DI and the Ruger, one worked and one didn't. The one that worked said Ruger on it.

OP, Ruger WILL return to you a fully functional rifle, rest assured.

Sorry you had a bad one, I once bought a Bushmaster that had the chamber reamed too deep, I had to pay to fix it myself. A new barrel for a new rifle, awesome.

Update: My SR556 is on it's way back, I found out by receiving and E-mail from UPS. I called Ruger this morning to find out what was wrong and what they did to my rifle and I was told " they don't keep notes". I was told my rifle was bench tested and range tested. I asked the obvious questin, did it pass the tests? Ruger said they dont keep notes but they assume it passed or it wouldn't be shipped back...WTF Ruger?

How can they not keep notes, how can they track reocurring problems with the model or particular rifle? it dosent make sense to me.

Range tested my SR556 today after getting it back from Ruger

24 rounds and the same problem was repeated. This time no warning, round 24 failed to eject, the bolt jammed up on a primer and is locked up tighter than a drum. It's back to UPS and on it's way back to Ruger.
Again they said they want to make it right, and the sent me an overnight air shipping lable. No complaints with Rugers commitment to customer satisfaction, just with my rifle.

Ruger has had some nasty PR in the past, they have some different views on things now...
They have an AWESOME customer service staff

say what you will about Ruger, I won't hesitate to buy one.

It's Fixed!!! Thank You Ruger!!!

Kudos to Ruger for standing behind their product.

After shipping my SR556 back to Ruger for a 2nd time, they replaced the entire rifle with the exception of the lower which was rebuilt with a new parts kit. The rifle works great, I am very happy with it's performance. It took a while to get it right but it was certainly worth the wait.

If I'm going to buy a piston gun it's going to be one that's been built from the ground up. The SCAR is an excellent gun that was built properly around a piston.

+1 The SCAR is a fantastic rifle - in both 5.56 as well as .308. Thats what the ACR should have been.

Did you have a chance to shoot it by now?
I own one SR556 and it runs like champ.
Used it for a class ca.450rds without a single hickup.
I set the GB on pos. 2 and it eats all ammo I tried to feed it (reloads, federal bulk, wolf, brown/silver bear)

I have 556e. Weight was less than regular 556.
Shot it when I got the red dot sight to zero in, and no problem with Walmart federal ammo.

Now, I got a buis, so I gotta zero that in.
I guess I had real good luck with at I owned.
From bushmasters to ruger, I had zero problem so far.

You pretty much need a working gun for that. Sorry, to hear about these problems. That sucks!
