What's your favorite whiskey? I'm a jack Daniels guy. Gentleman jack is my favorite. Whether mixed or on the rocks. Also a tennesee squire.
Regular, single barrel and honey are all delicious too!
Gentleman Jack!
40 Creek
Absolutely can't stand Jack and his under proofed crap.
Fireside Whiskey and Buffalo Trace are current favs. Old Crow, Ten High and Old Weller are the classics. W. L. Weller 12 Year, Elija Craig 20, Rip Van Winkle 10 for the new faves.
No whisky for me. It makes me mean(er).
Buffalo Trace and Bulleit.
I also have a bottle of Buffalo Trace White Dog Rye Mash I work on when I'm feeling brave. It's surprisingly tasty.
Jack, Jack Single Barrel, or Pendleton for mixing. For sipping Bookers or Basil Haydens.
I also have about a half a bottle left of Deer Hammer wheat whiskey that is absolutely awesome. Too bad he only made 1 barrel of it and I'm pretty sure it's all gone, he never did have it listed on their website. The owner is a friend of a friend of mine, he makes some damn good hooch.

Bourbon: Maker's Mark
Scotch: Laphroaig
I used to prefer Scotch, but in recent years I've found myself drifting into the Bourbon camp. Not gonna turn down either though. Honestly think the thing that kept me away from Bourbon for so many years was Jack Daniels ... there's an odd little flavor just below the surface with Jack that I really don't like.
Stranahan's
Tennessee Honey.
Stranahan's, Pappy (any year), McCallan 18 or 25, or Johnny Blue. All straight or 1-2 ice cubes as needed.
Bunnahabhain scotch 25 or 40 year old, you asked what I like [Beer]
JD
Pendleton, Speyburn, Eagle Rare, Aberlour, Fireside, Bulliet Rye.... If I'm out and about I stick to Crown and Jameson mostly... Hell, I just love whiskey period.
Jack Daniels for standard consumption but I really like Jefferson's Reserve.
For a scotch I like Glendronach (and so many others).
Most are just a little too expensive for my budget.

Bulleit Rye and Bulleit 10yr
This is 'whiskey' and is all you need combined with nothing you don't

Default whiskey is Crown. I've been drinking Woodford reserve lately. Good stuff.

For Scotch, I'm a Macallan guy. Love it, love it, love it.
I did a Bourbon tasting a while back and discovered I like Rye based whiskeys. I'm a fan now of Bullit Rye, mostly because it's cheap at the COS Costco.
It would be easier to list the whiskeys I don't like. The only one that comes to mind is Jim Beam. Ugh.
Scotch. Isle of Jura all flavors. Enjoy trying different types from real peaty and smokey to the other end of the spectrum. Also like brandy and found a nice one from California.
Do we need to start a whisky thread also? Attachment 37159
Jim Beam but have not had any in around 30 some years. When I was in the U.S. Army, I ran the NCO package liquor store (years 1956 - 1958) and Jim Beam was the biggest seller. The slowest seller was Schnley ("Black Death")
1792 Ridgemont Reserve, Bulleit, Elijah Craig and the newest addition Hookers House bourbon.
Maker's for me
Tried some of this last night, after dinner. Very nice.

What is the infatuation with Pappy Van Winkle? 7000 cases a year. 5-14 year waiting lists. The "old" unsold bourbon stock is drying/dried up, so look for the availability to be even less in the near future. Not saying it isn't good but it is unobtainium. I'll stick with something a little more accessible.
