I thought the clamps would be temporary too, but to be honest, it is really growing on me and I'll probably just leave it on clamps permanently.

Deprimed ~50 pc of 220 swift that my Dad had shot probably over the past 40 years. He gave me the rifle and all the brass he had ever shot through it. Pulled it out of the tumbler this morning. Most is pretty good but some is unfortunately corroded.
Also primed 50 pc of 300blk. Ordered me some W296 last week, which should be here later this week. Gonna work up a 110 grain vmax load and 125 grain SMK load with that blk brass.
Take a look at cstone's post #773 in this thread. I also have an inline precision mount that I have been clamping to my bench. Posted a pic in 'that other thread'. The guy that makes those stands is a really good guy. He custom made a pattern for an press that a friend of mine uses at no charge.
Thanks for the offer JM. I'd say about 50 of the 60 turned out nice and shiny. I had several that still had these pits. This is some of the worst...

I'm thinking if it was more, I'd take you up on that as it's not worth your time for a few shells..
More like what I did for the reloading room. Bought a Hornady LnL AP press. Yeah! No more loading pistol rounds on a Rockchucker.
Started to work on some 308 brass and then broke my decapper. [Mad] Drilled a hole in the other end of the rod inserted a broken drill bit and a little super glue and I'm back in business till the replacement shows up. [rockon]
Started setting up the T-7 to do 40cal and then got honey do'd into taking down and putting away all the Halloween decorations.
processed 2.5K of 223 on the 1050. Is the cost of an auto-drive worth not having to pull the handle, to be or not to be.
I loaded up 25 rounds of .260 Remington to try out my new MWS barrel.
i loaded up some 155s for my LaRue. I need to make sure it still runs right.
Got my Lee turret mounted with C-clamps to the bench and mostly assembled. The instructions that come with everything are pretty terrible, and the auto disk powder dispenser requires a special die that I don't have... Kind of a PITA.
I'm going to use a scale to measure my charges until I have a better feel for things. The die I need is a universal charging die. I'll see if the SW down here has one when I go to look for powder this weekend.
Edit: I don't need the "Universal charging die", I need the "Rifle charging die".
If you've got Lee, I don't think you need the universal charging die (that is just a charge die without belling the case mouth). I believe what you need is this: http://www.titanreloading.com/powder...-measure-riser
The Universal Charge Die is for using the Auto Disk with rifle dies, where they don't come with that case belling / powder dropping die.
And to stay on track of the thread, I tumbled a buttload (english, not metric) of brass. Still trying to sort through what we shot at my bachelor party and if I can scrape up the funds, I might order a bunch of bullets right now. Xtremebullets.com has a 15% off coupon code (while supplies last and they have TONS) on all copper bullets.
That's odd, the autodisk that I bought didn't come with that riser. [Dunno]
The code is 15offbullet
Check their In-Stock page for the most up to date info, but they have hundreds of boxes of most things (in 500rd boxes that is).

The riser came in a separate plastic bag as a part of the Lee Classic Turret Kit that I just bought. After looking closer, I don't need the universal charging die, I need the "Rifle charging die". I fixed it above.
...of course, I could be totally wrong... I'm new at this game. [Abused]
What kind of accuracy have you gotten out of their .223 FMJs?
I just started loading with their 55gr FMJs but using IMR 4895 I was getting less than 0.5" groupings at 50yds and iron sights. That was through my M&P15 with 16" 1:9 barrel and using a wobbly bipod (as in, definitely not a target rifle/barrel). But we shot through all ~260 rounds that I loaded from that 1lb of IMR 4895, so now I get to wait for my LGS to get more rifle powder in stock. :(
If I was using a scope, I'm sure those groups could have been better. The bullets are definitely FMJ's and not copper plated.
eta: And ahh, forgot you got the kit, didn't realize it came with the riser as well. And yes, the rifle charging die is what you need then! [LOL]
No worries, I kind of figured I was wrong since I'm teh newb. [Flower]
Why did you choose IMR 4895?
It was the only, and I kid you not, ONLY pound of powder that my LGS had on the shelf. They got 10lbs of Varget in-stock (had on order and I had them reserve 3lbs for me), but they sold them all out from under me.
Speaking of, haven't been there in a while, might swing by tomorrow on my way home and see if they have any new powders.
eta: Basically, I had 3 manuals that I wrote down all the listed powder recipes for 55gr bullets and IMR 4895 happened to be on that list, so I grabbed it.
Yeah, that's my plan when I visit the LGS this weekend... Take a list of acceptable powders and grab whatever I can.
I did the same thing when I got pistol powders, ended up with Win WST (for light .40 loads) and N340 (for expensive 9mm lol) and again, those were the only powders on my list. Hope someday they start getting more in-stock and keeping them in-stock so I can get other powders to try out.
Still working on the .260 Remington barrel in my MWS. 20" barrel, 1/9 twist, rifle length gas system, ar-10 carbine buffer system.
The 120 AMax bullets are what I've found on the cheap (locally), and the gun seems to shoot them well. I won't post the pics again, but sub-MOA for ten rounds straight.
The first load was with 36.8gr of Varget. This was enough to extract and eject reliably, but it wouldn't pick up the next round. It also wouldn't lock the bolt back on the last round.
Today, I shot with 37.2gr Varget. Same thing, only it came out a little bit faster (duh!). The MV today hovered between 2840-2850fps. It showed no pressure signs. im trying to get this gun to reliably cycle, but I don't want a small nuclear explosion to do it.
that being said, at what sorts of MV should I start worrying about over pressure?
200 rounds of 12 gauge.
Got my new turret all set up and reloaded my first round!
Decapped and swaged 2000 308's. Only 1000 more to go, I will be glad when this is all finished.
Also, got some goodies from Cabelas in Lonetree: https://www.ar-15.co/threads/42773-P...=1#post1402089
According to the Hornady 9th edition, you are past the max load at 37.2gn. They are listing a MV of ~2700 with a max load of 37.1gn Varget out of a 24" barrel. You can also check http://data.hodgdon.com/main_menu.asp which lists a max load of 39gn. Your call on testing the upper bounds or seeing if the gas system can be adjusted. Have you tried any factory ammo yet? That should give you a good indicator if the rifle is setup correctly.
Nothing wrong with that. My first few rounds I too was a little shocked at how simple it was. Lots to learn up front, but then once you get your hands dirty, you realize how easy it is and wish you started earlier, right? And reloading for economy is what I do as well. I can load things MUCH cheaper than I can buy them, usually half the cost even. If/when I get a nicer rifle capable of excellent accuracy or that I care to get excellent accuracy out of, I'll buy some expensive bullets and load those with a chronograph. But for the time being, as long as it goes bang and not boom, I'm happy.
Yeah, I worried about max load, but I'm not seeing any sorts of over pressure signs.... It's really weird. I see that hodgdon says that I can take it up a bit. That's why I'll try maybe 5 rounds at 37.5 gr.
i really think I better do more research before I get too excited about upping the charge too much.
Seeing as the case capacity of the 6.5 creed is very close to the .260 Rem, and the hodgdon varget loads for 6.5 creed are between 36-40.2gr...... I think it'll be ok to load up a bit....
... found space for about 350 pounds of pre-sorted clip on wheel weights.
