Old family tradition - first food for New Years is black-eyed peas.
We lived all over the country when I was young, so I think my parents picked that up in the south. I don't know for sure.
First clear memory was when I was about 7 and my mother took me to a Sierra Club Lodge in the California Sierra mountains, around Truckee, I think.
There were about 30 people on the trip and we stayed in a large open building about a half-day ski hike from the road. The snow was so deep we had to enter through a door on the second level. Then we dug a route out the main floor door and cleared some windows for good air circulation. The place was heated with fireplaces and we were there 3 or 4 days. I learned to ski with instruction from some pretty experienced cross country skiers. First thing New Year's Day was the classic black-eyed peas!
Good memories.
Fridge, pan, *time*, yummy......throw pan in trash...... and buy new shit for the year?
Brainstorming, Win.
Ham and bean soup in the crockpot by 6:00 am, cleaned off the GF's car, everything done for Ed, snow shoveled, did the elderly neighbors stuff too...I think I'll crash on the couch for a few hours and make up some sleep.
Nobody wanted to hear my Mayhem ad idea?

My grandparents on my Dad’s side (god rest their souls) would serve creamed herring on toasted slices of homemade mini loafs at the stroke of midnight on NYE.
Talk about nasty vomit inducing foods.
I have a little crush on Dean Winters

You busy tomorrow?
Zort.
chicken fried steak with Colorado green chili.
I suppose to start off 20 this way, cause it sounds damn delicious. Pete's is pretty bad ass btw, the rellenos there are good.
We got new All Clad pots and pans for the new kitchen. Ouchie, but 20% off at BBB and they had a free roaster with the set helps. Sure are nice to cook with. Now I need to get a decent cast iron pan again. Don't even remember what happened to the last one.
New silver, plates, glasses, etc. Shit adds up.
P.S. for $29/year BBB has a rewards program that gets you 20% off entire purchase without any dumb coupons. Made sense when we were spending so much there on a frequent basis.
BBB coupons never really expire. I have an envelope full of them.
My Breakfast was lovely. I rarely make recommendations as each to his own liking, but if you haven't tried the green chili @ the Bull & Bush near Cherry Creek /Glendale, you're missing out.
Yea, we heard some stores were limiting the number you could use per checkout and pushing back on expired ones, but before we signed up for beyond+, a lady in line gave me a whole grip when I had multiple items. Still, only covered the big stuff.
My wife said Michael's does that. One per customer per day. Which is dumb because it has to (net) cost them more to do that extra transaction when someone just runs through another checkout line.
well, fuck, wife sitting downstairs and apparently can't smell burning pizza.
And when you lose control
You'll reap the harvest you have sown.
Previous commercial fades out....and you see this:
Average guy mowing his grass with view of his car parked on the street in front of his house. 5 second shot /cut
Mayhem guy at work getting yelled at by the boss for screwing up, and leaves work...5 second shot /cut
Mayhem guy coming home to pissed off wife yelling at him, screaming kids in the background, gets sent out to pick up dinner...5 second shot /cut
Mayhem guy at the grocery store with fried chicken from the deli, in line behind a blue hair with a super loaded cart, and a retarded checker w/bagger on his phone...5 second shot /cut
Mayhem guy behind the wheel, radio blasting, eating greasy chicken...wheel slips out of his hand and he side swipes all the parked cars in front of the dude mowing his grass..5 second shot /cut.
Last five seconds Mayhem guy says his usual close out, winner, winner chicken dinner, protection against Mayhem like me....etc.
[ROFL2]
I could totally see that as one of their commercials.
Yeah!...I think it's awesome.
:)
I like your commercial.
Tomorrow starts my filling in on Mids for the guy who got in the accident a few weeks ago. So tonight I'm staying up in the hopes I sleep tomorrow. The boys were rambunctious today, so the nap I'd planned didn't happen. Think I'll go through the basement and try to ID stuff for giving away and/or a garage sale.
Looking forward to not having these sutures.... they're more in the way than serving a purpose. Why would I suffer the hassle to go to the doc's office for something I've done 100s of times already... curious really, who here doesn't remove their own?
Good night folks!
I'm going to start a new book.
Might try to pepper in some more Spanish lessons again as well. Kind of let that fall off after last winter.
It's Lilli Von Shtupp!
Found some books I’d thought I’d accidentally given away. Nice.
Why does Pandora prohibit skipping certain songs/groups? Just give me the ad and let me skip.
I've never had that problem, but noticed that only some songs can be replayed.
Good morning folks!
I stopped using pandora after they stopped listening to my feedback.
I had an amazing library built with them & they ruined it. Jerks.
