It's snowing here today Kazoo.
I hate snow. Yep. Hate.
It probably goes without saying by now but I'm bored.
Go get that ammo waiting, say when & we can have a chat about hobbies.
I played in traffic this morning. That was pretty entertaining.
You suck Ray. You already went. Fooie
I do have a bag of heads arriving this evening, that should be good for at least an hour of entertainment...
36" tire size (actual height)...One calculator said I needed a 5.27 with 4.88 on the high side torque/towing power. I need to find out where 7.3's rpm are at in E-350's in 3rd and OD w/E4OD, no tachs in those so I need the scanner to read it. On another chart, 4.88 at this size would be "closest to stock" result, and it recommends 5.29 as the torque/towing power. I've also heard that longer highway trips with gears like 4.88 are killers for the gears...get too hot...wtf?
I'll stick with standard stocked gear sets though, that special stuff gets pricey fast. I did reach out to the guys that rebuild our diffs to have him come by and see what I'm dealing with. Need a shaft made for one thing, and to help me make a decision whether to use the existing diff, or choose one of the others that I can use...and make it happen.
If I reuse existing dana 60 full floating, I'd like to find a disc brake conversion kit for it. I do have the option of using a single wheel dana 60 that is already disc, but it probably isn't as strong because it's not full float set up.
Then when I get that installed, I can send 'em the front and do it all over again. I'm still not convinced about spending money on the 44, and not just getting a 60 set up for it.
Aw thank you Kowalski, I'm so proud.
Because you made the decision and purchased the item?
I haven't started looking into kits yet, however, if it makes more sense to keep the housing already in the truck, I'll see what's available. I've also never checked to see if there's a difference between dual and single wheel spindle lengths. If they're the same, then I have even more choices of which diff to re-gear.
If the spindle lengths are the same, then there is already one ready to use that is disc ready, just gotta get rest of the stuff to put it together.
We have the hubs and axels, I'd need bearings, seals, and I could probably use the calipers and brackets from that other disc diff. Might need new brackets.
One good thing about tearing all this stuff apart, is having it all out you can media blast and repaint and make everything clean and neat the way it should be, when you put it all back together.
BTW....if any car guys browse this thread and see this post.... Tri-State car show will be making a return to Denver in March of next year. It was a big deal in the 80's / early 90's, and efforts are underway to bring it back.
I think it's pretty cool they're gonna give it a go again.
What else guys?
There's always porn.
Here's to a shitty movie blaring in the background, because someone else wants to watch it. Selflessness involves a lot of things.
Noise canceling headphones bro
Sheeeeit… I know I do stuff and watch stuff that works the opposite way.
I'll have live PD on soon enough I suppose, …..that redneck, POS, "why are you watching that?....it's so stupid, and the same all the time.", pro-Cop, anti-douchebag, like to see the bad guy eat shit....show.
Headphones?.....when's the next time you're gonna get laid?....lol.
How ya doin', brother?
