I purchased my last one as an "investment" . However your right , most of the time that is not a good move. But smart to get a smaller bike your comfortable on then upgrade.

The little buell started sounding like it had rod knock and this popped up at the local HD shop...it followed me home.

Brought this home tonight. 2007 Honda XR650L (CA emissions removed and tuned). Looked way too long and this fell in my lap. Original owner is a friend and very fastidious with upkeep. Like new with 6200mls.
First ride was tonight.

Ah Pook, that Honda is a great bike, looks like in great shape too. Enjoy!
I'm about 80% sure I had that bike in my shop for maintenance a month or so back. If so, you got yourself a keeper!
Thought I had posted in here, but I guess not. Here is my current ride. 2012 Sportster Iron punched out to 1200cc. Raised up, dirtbike bars, skid plates, spoked wheels, knobbies to make it my version of an old school scrambler. I've had a blast pissing of the ADV guys with their BWM's that think adventure is just dirt roads. These pics are from last month when I took it up Mosquito pass solo, passed 2 "ADV" guys on my way up that had turned around and told me the trail was too hard and there was no way in hell I would make it. I've ridden on trails all over the country on dirt bikes, and competed from coast to coast in rock crawlers, I won't lie this trail, on this bike at 40 years old was one of the hardest things I have ever done physically. On a dirtbike it would have been no problem.

I wonder how many Harleys have seen this summit? It's the highest passable road in the US. 13,185'

Gotta love low clearance.

That's so cool
I have a customer with an XR1200 Harley that he put aggressive dual sport tires on, he takes that thing EVERYWHERE. Huge respect for you!
Thanks a ton, still a lot I want to do but it's been a blast.
Thanks!
Yea it's a lot of fun. I've spun the rear tire/tube in the wheel and ripped the valve stem off twice now, any ideas? I thought rim lock, but have been told it'll be impossible to balance.
