I guess my point is its naive to typecast people either way. Sure there are stoners that function fine but there's also some that can and have killed people.
And yes some are more mellow but not all.
A good friend of mine had his ranger career terminated when a stoner speeding at over 100mph rear ended him on his harley on the interstate.
The only thing that saved him was an ambulance had been following the stoner at speed, trying to get LEO to get him off the road before the accident happened.
Broke about 60% of the bones in his body. So it's not harmless.
Yes, some people can function okay, some can't.
That said, the biggest issue I have with it isn't from the perspective of safety, and this is where the alcohol argument is moot.
Weed makes people generally stupider and unmotivated. While it may be argued it's their right to be stupider and unmotivated, I don't believe it's their right to live on the teet of society.
I also understand the broader scope of things. It kills our politics and kills our global competitiveness. It hurts our GDP and is a burden on the competent workforce.
