Damn! That chip-seal road surface doesn't look like the smoothest place to land... Best for a quick recovery.

What gear were you wearing? I'm always looking for info and possible upgrades.
I wear a Darien jacket, gloves of some sort, selection depends on weather, Nolan helmet... never sandals...
Yikes dude..............[sorry]
Glad you are pretty much ok. Were you running just the stock headlight ? The newer GS bikes have much better headlights, at least the ones with LED.
My GS1200 lighting sucks ! This might push me over the edge to get some aux lighting on mine.
You were fortunate. I've hit one and not went down. Watched a good friend hit a horse. He didn't survive.

I've hit a couple of prairie dogs and never even felt them. Hope like hell I never hit a deer.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Damn! Hope you heal quickly and completely. Glad you were properly geared up, could've been a lot worse.
Glad to hear you're relatively okay. Dang deer.
I was wearing my Scorpion AT950 helmet, Joe Rocket Ballistic revolution jacket, rev'it pants, 2x layers of Cabelas thermals and Olympia gore Tex gloves. I don't really like the jacket as it's button front flap scoops the wind, makes your chest cold first and the wrist seals are just an awful idea, but I love the helmet and pants.
i have a set of Denali Aux lights that are so bright they make the stock headlight irrelevant. I saw the deer easily. slowed down and went around and hit the ass end of the Third deer to jump out , I jumped it, then landed with the front still sideways, pitching the bike over forward and catapulting me past it.
Wow! You win the 'Chuck Norris of the Month' award for surviving that....
