This may just be a good reason to buy a new handguard. Thanks for the input.

Do you know if a RPR in 6mm creedmoor can have a barrel swap to 6.5 creedmoor or are there different bolts out there? I won a 6mm RPR a few weeks ago and have been trying to figure out wtf to do with it. I hadnt planned on it and have no optics for it so it's just collecting dust right now. and 6mm is way outside my wheelhouse so I've been thinking about converting it to 6.5 or 308 if possible. I emailed Ruger customer service but couldnt get a clear answer. it SEEMS like i can do just a barrel swap, but it's not something i want to learn the hard way.
Why not just sell it and buy what you want? Even if you lose a little on the 6mm (demand on them is super low...), you're still ahead if you've got to add cash to buy a 6.5 or 308 since you won the 6mm...
You'll spend more on the barrel swap than just buying what you really want...
Replacement bbl runs approximately $5-600ish not counting tools (which you can rent on line) or smith charges to do the work. If you're in to it for little or no $$ why not replace it with a better barrel. If you go to some RPR forums, there's a good chance you'll be able to sell or swap the 6mm barrel

With this many owners in here, I imagine someone’s mounted up a Burris XTR and can recommend some good “tried” rings and bases?
Mine aren't tried, but when I get a chance to own Burris equipment, because they are local, I take it.
Currently running a Ruger Precision Rifle, 6mm Creedmoor, with a Burris XTRII scope. My Burris XTR Rings cost me $135+
I'm pretty sure I will be happy spending the money.

The Burris XTR rings are solid.
Another to consider is Hawkins Precision, local guy out of the Springs producing very high quality rings and bottom metal.
Another vote for Burris rings.
Burris XTR rings are good. Used Badger or Mark4 rings are always good to go too.
