Mrs. Hummer roasted a Venison Wellington for dinner this evening. A section of the very tender 2020 buck deer loin is wrapped in a puff pastry with sauteed mushroom, onion, garlic and home grown greens, then baked to medium rare. Wellingtons are always a special favorite a few times a year made with tender cuts of elk, deer, pronghorn, moose, salmon and even.... beef. Of course the accompaniments like roasted beets, sweet potato and onions with a tossed green salad of spinach, chard, romaine, toasted walnuts, sunflower seed, cranberries and grapefruit fulfills. A nice Cabernet Sauvignon lubricates and brings out the richness of the deep lean red meat to complete the meal.

It's not terrible, but it's annoying when no one is around, at all, then a guy come out of the bushes to ask you to put your mask on.
Let's hope everywhere has good reason to be less uptight this summer. But like "Remember the Alamo", never forget the Wuhan China Virus and how the communist regime deliberately and quickly spread it throughout the world to stunt the western economies and kill millions of people in the process. They didn't need to officially declare war, they just did it then blamed it on Italy whose high density elderly population suffered the most because Italian politicians allowed Chinese immigrants to flood the country and spread the virus there.
Don't buy China.
What island are you on?
Maui.
I miss Kauai. Use to have a house there.
Maui is nice too. Spider pictures please?
We haven't seen any yet.
For context, the cane spiders are about the size of a can of cat food.
Happy face spiders are cute, big smiley on them.
The garden spiders with the striped legs that shake their webs when intimidated are my favorite.
The variety of orb weavers out there are pretty neat too.
Love the rain forest jungles of Kauai. I might buy Oprah's estate when she tires of it. :)

There's scorpions on Kauai too. Not sure about Maui
I'll keep a lookout. I was driving in a parking lot with the window down, and all the sudden a Gecko appeared on my wrist. Weirdest thing.
I had a gecko that wanted to live in my house for half a year. She chirped a lot at night so I'd shoo her out but she always managed to get back in. I gave up after a while since she had obviously decided she lived there too.
I probably did stuff that annoyed her as well. Ugh, roommates
I had an avocado tree there, have one here too but the Denver tree is just for nostalgia since it never has fruited.
Cant say I had a lot of yield there though because tourist would walk up into my yard from the beach & swipe my fruit. Jerks.
I found people on my deck once, lounging & whale watching. I was annoyed but arguably it was a better view & they were very apologetic so I brought out the spotting scope & they stayed for dinner. They sent me a card about a month later inviting me to dinner anytime I was in the neighborhood of Iowa. Ha!
Sounds like my wife would move here in a heart beat. I travel for work anyway, but it wouldn't work out from here.
This afternoon I took a walk up the Brainard Lake road looking for birds and moose. It's about 2.5 miles along the closed road from the parking lot to the lake. The road has a thin packed cover of snow so I might take my mountain bike up it again before the next snow. Some folks I met reported seeing two and four moose but I wasn't so lucky today. Birds were scarce too, a few corvids, woodpeckers and chickadees. With binoculars I scanned for elk on the open slopes of Audubon and Niwot ridge. Many times I've seen ptarmigan in the willow carrs along the road. I'll try for them on cross country skis when we get a little fresh tracking snow. Cell phone pic from later this afternoon:

Sil tahr ford was pretty good when the wife had her pony. They ate the cost of a spyder gear replacement after warranty after I bounced off the curb sliding down a hill on pure ice.
I finally got caught up with this thread. Life has been busy for us. Got a house in Puyallup under contract. Was hoping for trees and a fishable creek on about 10 acres, but inventory for something like that near a tech job on my budget isn’t happening. .86 acres of suburbia will have to do for now.
Moved up here to spend more time with my folks. That hasn’t worked out since we’re living with my sister and my brother in law is an ER doc. Looking forward to having our own space again.
We bought a car from MB of Littieton this June. Funny that many MB dealership sales dept are okay, but their service dept are horrible.
Right before we were about to buy a car, I drop by their (MB littleton) service for maintenance schedule. At least they were nice enough to print out and gave me tips for doing DIY services.
I will give MBWesterminster service an another try when there is a recall.
There are handful of dealerships I would probably avoid. I use to be in auto sales industry during 90s (while going to school) ,and some of asshole dealership have same old people working still after 25 years later.
We had a couple come to the house for some smoked ribs goodness a few days ago and they saw a momma and baby Moose down the road from our house. It was the first time they saw a Moose and were totally amazed. When we told them we see them about every week in the back yard I could tell they were skeptical. A few videos later and they were even more amazed.
I love it up here.
Trying to get an occasional bird photo out here for Hummer.
Went to Olivine Pools today. Warning signs and memorials all over for people who have died. A wave caught us by surprise and put the fear of God (Titan) into us and we boogied out of there. Ultimately nothing happened, and I found a YouTube video of people encountering a similar wave in the exact same spot and just laughing it off. We started looking into it and it kind of put a downer on the rest of the day for us. 19 people died in this spot just last year.
Not yet. Trying to stick to one restaurant meal a day.
Remind me again which island you?re on?
Maui
Nice. I haven?t been to Kauai yet but so far Maui is my favorite island.
Although Glock is awesome pistol, I got tired of it a little. Sold all my designated carry pistol now.
Thinking about P320 xpro(same as X5, but without W infusion) or q5 Match (poly or sf).
I am currently carrying P210 and shadow 2 sao right now. P210 is doable but shadow 2 little bit heavier.
Tonight we got yelled at for blowing a conch shell to thank the sun because, "It is an annoying sound," and then again because we've been, "slamming all the doors," since Friday. We're a small family on vacation, but there is only a single door in the whole condo. The neighbors haven't closed their door for days now.
Ask them: 'like beef?'
If they're local - you're saying 'let's step outside & settle this dispute'

Irving, bring me back a lava rock.
