Almost got killed by a candy cane today.
Tried to bite off a piece and it exploded sending a piece of peppermint shrapnel flying into the back of my throat.
I was violated by candy when I was young, and it happened many times. It really wasn't easy to share this information, but if it can help others in their recovery, .....it's worth it.
And GK, don't tell me Candy was that guy at the truck stop that one time, I ain't buyin' it.
You guys...
Miss having the time to keep up with the forum.
Yeah, but it's funny.
I keep being reminded that even though there may be tons of items listed for sale there is really not.
Trying to get a commuter car. Settled on something that is practical and cheap and go off looking for a great deal. (Cheap er because I found a hobby I want to do next year so car budget was slashed and the dream car will be scaled back to needs only). Yes I want a great deal who wouldn?t. Most of the dealer cars are used up junk. The private party cars are listed at kbb excellent pricing but are below good. (Paint needs touch up aka clear coat is gone, or the overpowering smell of bleach and vomit in a full priced car).
Well. Back to searching for a fun commuter.
You know that feeling when you wake up in the morning, and you've been sleeping on your side......and you realize that your ear is folded back on itself?
Son of a bitch.
Takes a while before it starts feeling normal again too.
No. But I?ve slept on my arm and it took half the morning before I could get all of the feeling back in it.
That's called "every morning". I shift from one side to the other. This arm gets numb, then the other. They just take turns.
I can't sleep with my arms above my head or they go numb. Or reading with my arms tucked in close.
Okay guys, my friends, you should talk to your doctor about your symptoms. Any neuropathy has a cause that might be corrected by altered movements and/or physical therapy. But if you ignore or dismiss the condition until it advances it could result in permanent disability.
I've experienced gradual muscle weakness in one hand and passed it off as a part of ageing. But I found that my problem is caused by ulnar nerve entrapment, i.e., cubital tunnel syndrome, second most common to carpal tunnel syndrome. They are repetitive motion injures incurred by people who work with their hands. Anyone like martial artists, boxers, pistol shooters, carpenters, pianists, or computer operators of any flavor. I didn't recognize the problem until too late and will need to have ulnar transposition surgery pretty soon. It sucks. Hope to regain full dexterity.
Be proactive. Survivors take the steps necessary to survive. Your loved ones depend on you.
Good point Hummer. I have an annual physical coming up soon and I'll bring it up. The "falling asleep" arms have been happening as long as I can remember though. Just figured it was normal.
Just turned 50 yo, so I guess the ole rectal exam is iminant. Awesome.[facepalm]
I have checked it out with my doctors. I already have a diagnosed C5-C6 foraminal stenosis. The numbness is caused by positional pressure on nerves in my neck. I keep an eye on it and it hasn't resulted in any loss of muscle strength or control.
Just wanted to clarify that I wasn't being irresponsible. ;-)
I'm gettin' things in motion to start investigating some of these ongoing problems that I experience daily for years now.
My previous employer insurance wouldn't address it, but perhaps I can find some answers this time around.
An alert was sent out from one of the boat owner Facebook groups I monitor, just for this type of thing:
Boat ramp scam alert SW Florida
Two very sexy looking blonde girls come over to your truck while you are getting the boat out of the water.
They both start cleaning your boat with sponge and soapy water, with their tops almost falling out of their skimpy dresses! It is impossible not to look.
When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say no thanks and instead ask you for a ride to the 24 hour Racetrack a couple of miles down the road so they can get smokes and a cold drink.
You agree and they get in the backseat.
Then on the way, they pull their dresses down . Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet.
I had my wallet stolen December 4th, 9th,10th, twice each on the 15th, 17th, 24th, and three times this morning!!
So tell your friends to be careful.
P.S. Walmart sells wallets for only $3
Gotta get coyote hunt set up. Glassed two groups this morning totalling at least seven critters within 800 yds of the back porch. Thinking could call in several in a morning with electronic call.
Set call out about 80 yds from house and shoot prone from the deck. Maybe even set a blind at edge of deck so could have some limited movement behind it.
Off to look at electronic calls.
I called in a coyote with my elk bugle the other day. It got me excited to try and call them in again. I can't afford an e-caller right now, so I was going to use my Bluetooth speaker and just play calls from that. Figured I can set it my little rabbit decoy, and cover the speaker with some tumbleweeds. I'll have to find out how far the Bluetooth will reach with no obstacles.
I downloaded a free app that has like 15 different distress/coyote calls. If it works in airplane mode I should be set; as I'll have service issues out there as well.
if you get a bluetooth speaker. cell service doesn't matter. It's a link between the bluetooth on the phone and speaker.

Cell service to connect to website to play calls. Haven't looked at download availability. If calls easy to download then easy peasy.
Several apps available. Easy peasy. May do a little testing this evening and tomorrow morning.
Grrr. Finally decide to take the plunge and buy myself a toy for the new year regardless of multiple trips to the toy store and wouldn?t you know the item I want can?t be found anywhere.
Good luck with the set up/results of both Lobo.
I don't have that problem. The item is available, but the $$$ eh, that's a problem, even with the 15% discount. Having shot 2 of them, its hard to not wonder where i can scrap the $$ up. .

Only about 50' on the Bluetooth connectivity. Had to set the phone out in the field as well. Not able to change calls or adjust volume during the hunt.
I was a little late getting out and set up this morning. Yote activity was winding down by the time I got speaker and phone set up.
Did not get any critters to head towards call but the last two in the area seemed to hesitate and want to investigate but ended up clearing out to their hideout.
Will keep messing with it as time allows.
Different calls and locations.
Maybe dig up threads TR has posted his exploits in to see if any useful tidbits.
May be too close to house and outbuildings to call them in during daylight.
Just glassed the area and "the pack" has grouped together again at the hideout. Too bad they are almost impossible to sneak up on.
A guy could get in close enough to take shots 500yds or even a little less but the location relationship of hideout to surrounding properties and residences really closes up alot of shooting lanes. Would have to get position just right without alerting pack.
Many neighbors have justifiably gotten more sensitive about folks shooting nearby the last few years as the area has "filled" in a little with mostly idiots.
