It sure was! As much as I hate Sean Penn, I can't say he did a bad job in that movie. And Brolin was awesome, as always.

Who's sen the "new" Evil Dead? The original was a classic. I don't want to drop $6 for a disappointment (again).
Watched "The Purge" yesterday. Not too bad for a future thriller.
So glad I didn't go see the latest die hard in the theater.
$.32 from redbox on blu-ray and I'm fairly certain I over paid.
Sent by a free-range electronic weasel, with no sense of personal space.
Watched Savages tonight. That is the one where the US pot growers go up against the main Mexican cartel. I thought it was a pretty good movie.
Saw The Wolverine and Pacific Rim last night.
The Wolverine was a great addition to the X-men/Marvel universe. A little grittier this time, a little more edge, and toned down appropriately while still being over the top in a super hero movie fashion.
I absolutely LOVED Pacific Rim. Michael Bay had to have crapped his pants when he saw it. Great cast of lesser known folks, and they kept the proper scope so as not to quite lose the OO and AH factor as the movie carried on.
Oblivion was a decent Sci-Fi flick but fairly predictable. Good visuals.
Hangover 3 was less a comedy and more a dark action movie that just sort of wrapped everything up.
Watched a LOT of movies lately.
I had zero desire to see Pacific Rim, and am surprised to hear it was good.
I also heard that The Conjuring was a very scary movie.
Just watched this last night- not sure if I'd say not bad, but it definitely was most certainly not good. I would say meh. I didn't love it, didn't hate it, but thinking 'what would I do in this situation?' and Mr. Hawke and Family didn't come close to what I would do. YMMV.
Saw Pacific Rim yesterday as well. Amazing. Really good.
Also watched 42 this weekend. Really enjoyed it
Watched Dead Man Down last night, with the always beautiful Noomi Rapace (Prometheus), Colin Farrell, and Terrence Howard. Very good movie! Plenty of action and a really good story.
Anyone see wolverine yet
Anybody planning on seeing Elysium? Looking better and better with each clip and trailer they release. Comes out Friday. Directed by the same guy that did District 9.

Saw End of Watch. Despite the earlier spoilers, I was still able to enjoy it. The more I think about it, the more I like that movie. There are a few scenes that have some great camera work in my opinion.
We also watched Side Effects. Good solid movie.
We also watched The Orphanage, Mama, and the new Evil Dead. I thought the girl from Suburgatory was great.
ETA: Just watched Beasts of the Southern Wild. I don't really know how to describe this movie. It is basically about a 6 year-old's struggle to live with her sick father in an area that gets destroyed by a hurricane. Overall, I really liked the movie and would recommend it.
John Rambo is on the Indian (dot not feather) movie channel here. If I could shoot that many people with a M2 I'd be soooo happy.
The only upcoming movie I'm excited/nervous about is "Ender's Game". It's been one of my favorite books since I first read it when I was about 12. I really hope they don't screw it up too badly....
Saw Oblivion the other night... WOW! I loved it! Tom Cruise is a great actor, and Olga Kurylenko... need I say more? Great story, awesome effects, and really well presented plot.
I happen to think he's a good actor- I don't let his politics get in the way of the escapism that movies provide... otherwise I'd only have Eastwood, Willis, and Wayne films to watch... and I would like some variety now and again. It is possible to watch a movie and enjoy it, despite the actor/director/producer being aligned opposite of your own beliefs. I can forget all that shit and just watch a movie. And yes, I think he's a good actor, that's my opinion, yours can totally be different.
Not sure what to tell you. It's a little campy. The story can't stand on it's own like The Orphanage or anything. If you kick back and watch it with some friends and some brews, it's a fun time. If you go into with high expectations and a serious face on, you'll be disappointed.
There's a pretty good chance I'm going to see it on Sunday- it doesn't look bad, the socialism and hypocrisy notwithstanding.
Great article about how their metaphor backfires with the film:

Saw The Canyons with Lindsey Lohan. I can't describe how much you guys should not watch this movie. We watched it because it was supposed to be bad. It wasn't even bad in a fun way. Just plain BAD.
Just because I'm stuck on a conference call with at least 1 party with no clue...
I thought I'd offer to anyone close to Pueblo with kids... I just took 8 people, only 3 over 12... (they don't charge for 12 & under) so $25.50 for 8 to see 2 movies- Despicable Me 2 and RIPD (ok, maybe 1.5 movies)
if you've got a big SUV or pickups, and want to entertain kids on a sleep-over, they LOVED it... brought our Suburban, and some camp chairs... good food from the Snack bar- at reasonable prices!!
$5 for a large popcorn, $5.75 for a double bacon cheeseburger...
I mean... depending on if it's a good day...

I just finished watching "Samsara", which is the successor to "Baraka". If it wasn't for the title, I'm not sure I'd know which of the two I was watching, they were essentially the exact same movie.
