So in other words you like it better now as a seller than 17 years ago? It used to be simple and they made money and the seller made money? I opened my account in 96 and it has just become harder as a little guy to sell but then you have seen that a well.

Erape started into the flusher when the "third party" types got involved around 2004 or so. I bought an item from a seller and after a week was told it was "not in stock" I was like WTF??? you sold something that you did not have? Then I got the bit how the warehouse showed it was in stock when I placed the listing.........

Even though I have only bought and sold a few things in the last few years I always ask if the item is in the sellers possession.

I use to sell a lot of stuff on eBay, ran my little holster company for a while on there also. Now it is a last resort. The fees are high and service sucks. I can list the same AR mag pouches as everybody else but since I am a small company my shit gets flagged and taken down but its OK for the big companies to sell on there. Screw them.

<sarcasm>But their search function works so well...[facepalm][fail] </sarcasm> The 'compatibility' feature in eBay Motors lets people keyword spam like crazy.

I quit using eBay 5 years ago when they inaugurated their new user interface the same day we inducted another POS. I beta tested their new interface for months and was among many that said it not only wasn't an improvement on the old UI, it had all sorts of issues. They went ahead and declared it "gold" and the only time I've used them since was last spring when my brother asked me to get him something that wouldn't deliver overseas. Wasn't happy about breaking my "no eBay" pledge either but ... hey, he's family so ...

eBay(with their sub-company Paypal) is among the top anti-gun companies, and they are very openly anti-gun even when they know it hurt their profit, it all "for the greater good".
I don't use them unless i have to.

I sold a phone on there and the guy paid me and I sent it. Then when I needed the money I checked there was a 3 week hold on it. WTF! They said because I haven't sold 25 things only 24 that they put a hold on it. Needless to say I bitched and got my money. But I won't be using their shitty site to sell anything unless I really have to. And I haven't really had to yet.

Also, I notice 4 bogus charges on my paypal credit card in Brazil. Amounted to over $400 and before the money was pulled from my checking account I called them to cancel the transaction. They couldn't do anything about it. They credited the amount back and ran an investigation. I had to wait a week before it got transferred back into my checking account. Then after a month they said I could keep the credited amount because the retailer never got back to them. No cop involvement, no explanation as to how my credit card got used in another country. I haven't activated my new replacement card yet. They aren't even giving the cash back like they used to so its not even worth it anymore to use them.

I spend about $10 bucks a month for my website. Of course no one really uses it and I don't know how to gussy it up to get more visitors. But its not expensive to host a site. YMMV.

If you're looking to hire someone to improve the graphics, etc., try elance.com There are a lot skilled people in other countries who can do pretty good things with a small budget.

It's not expensive to host a low traffic site that essentially uses spare capacity at a large ISP. It IS expensive to run your own major site complete with instant-online backups, major bandwidth and scalable architecture capable of supporting hundreds (or in eBay's case, tens of thousands) of simultaneous users.
