I can handle what you don't get from others. I did a couple bulk orders of Aguila from the CMP just in case we didn't get our ammo for summer camp.
I supported a district shootaree several years back. The district was using Remington Thunderbolt because they'd procured 7000 rounds cheap. In addition to the camp rifles, I took down my own collection of Winchesters, Mossbergs, and Kimbers. I had the bolt on one of the Mossbergs blow out -- curious since it was over 60 years old and had survived decades of military training but it WAS 60 years old so I put it on the rack and pressed on.
After the shoot, we were unable to clean the rifles normally -- I broke a cleaning rod trying to get a brush down the barrel. Later, we had a service project to tackle the cleaning; it took some vices and a lot of muscle but they were pushing out long thick chunks of lead. At first, I was going to blame the summer camp staff but then found they were pushing it out of rifles that had literally just come from the factory (we unboxed them at the shootaree!).
When I finally located a replacement bolt for the Mossberg (no easy feat), I took the rifle down to Hickman's and they had to use power tools to get the lead out of the barrel.
Since then, we've made it a council policy that only camp ammo -- or previously approved substitute of known quality -- gets used in the camp rifles. Federal and CCI are good, Aguila is clean but the Henrys seem to have a problem extracting the Aguila cases so we don't use it with them. Remington Thunderbolt is on the banned list -- for my rifles as well. If we use my rifles, we can use my ammo -- if you get other ammo donated and feel bad about using my ammo, I can take the other ammo in trade. I don't have a problem trading it off to others who are happy to use it and have other ammo or parts I can use but I just won't let Thunderbolt in any of my guns anymore.
I have some ammo I'd like to donate. Just getting it to you would be the difficult part.
Interesting Aloha because I have seen those Remmy Thunderbolts buckets come up every now and then. I'll make sure to inspect everything. Thanks for the heads up.
hghclss, once thanksgiving or Christmas break roll around I would be more than willing to drive up and pick it up at your convenience.
I also plan on coming down again next year and can shuttle gear/ammo.
The guys at work pooled some ammo to send down.
Big bear- when it gets closer I will connect with buffalobo and set him up with ammo.
I'm in for ammo as well. Got a few hundred rounds of .22 I'll send off.
I'm in to help out again.
I had a blast last time!!!
Thank you, info in OP. You can PM me or send directly to school. If you choose the school route, make it VERY clear it is ONLY for the Appleseed project and let me know you sent it that way.
Yes Sir, thank you.
Thank you.
Good!! Starting the logistics and phone calls right now actually, lol.
Info updated to be more concise in OP. Please check it out and spread the word! I know I'm a month early but I will open up the Paypal and ammo stuff. Start getting it together! I'm excited.
Rgr, PM sent Sir, thank you.
Outstanding, looking forward to it!
