According to the law- you can leave it locked in your car if you are not in the car.
"A permittee may have a handgun on the real property of the public school so long as the handgun remains in his or her vehicle and, if the permittee is not in the vehicle, the handgun is in a compartment within the vehicle and the vehicle is locked."
I've done this before visiting my old HS, well mostly to visit with my friend who happens to be the SRO. Never once had an issue.
Yeah but we're talking non-handguns now.
I'll never understand the desire for our children, our future, to be fish in a barrel (gun-free zone farce).
