I was also really turned off by this when I first applied. However, the people that actually work the desk are VERY friendly, helpful, and even forgiving. I don't believe it is their policy. I was all ready to have an attitude when I went in, but they were just so dang polite and professional that I couldn't.

I'm not bashing the people working there. I just don't like the fact that Adams County makes everything difficult. I wish the state would step in and set a standard set of guidelines for stuff like this and not leave it up to the individual county sheriffs to set the rules.

I know you aren't. I was super pissed when I was applying. I jumped through the hoops and was glad in the end though.

Yes, but you can get a permit from another state that is cheaper and/or has more reciprocity...

I looked into Utah, and if I remember correctly, you still have to carry a permit for the state you reside, in order to apply for a UT CCW.

Senator, please keep hammering away at both sides of the aisle. Even if these bills are auto-killed in the House, I want them to be constantly reminded of the annoyance they caused every citizen of this state, and I want my fellow citizens reminded come next elections.

As for hammering away at both sides of the aisle, please keep in mind that zero Republicans voted for the three citizen-control bills ( aka "gun control" as if words on paper can control the actions of inanimate objects) that were signed into law during 2013. Zero in committee, zero on the floor, zero in the House or in the Senate. Zero.

The only thing that has been bi-partisan about those three bills has been the OPPOSITION to them. 100% of the votes for the original bills and against repeal bills have come from Democrats. 100%.

Senator, for the "must sign" NFA legislation that was in committee in the House, there was a Republican rep who voted against the legislation. Do you know why that was? Not that it mattered, it was still killed by the Ds, I am just curious.

Nope, I don't know why. I would, however, encourage anyone who is interested to ask him to explain his vote. It's 100% OK to ask and he (we) should be willing to explain our votes. There are SO many votes each session that it can become a blur. Refer the bill number and the short title. You can use your own words to describe the bill.

FYI, all bills have a two-digit Year prefix. House bills are four digits, Senate bills are three digits. Provide the full bill number when asking about a vote. "HB 15-####" would be the correct format for a House bill this session.

It may seem far fetched, but there is VERY little awareness among members in one chamber as to what occurs in the other chamber, including the committees of the other chamber. I saw reference to this vote on the Internet, but I don't recall hearing a word about it at the Capitol. We go to our respective chambers in the morning, then to morning committees, afternoon committees, clean the snow off the car if necessary, go home, read bills, sleep, do it again. I knew of this reality before I ran for office, but it really can be surprising as to how isolated each chamber is from the other. That's OK to a point because what one chamber does on any given bill actually IS isolated from the other chamber. The bi-cameral system is arranged to divvy up Legislative Branch authority. Still, it is strange how little I actually see our state Representatives each day, let alone know what they're doing.
