I have (or had, may be gone due to inactivity, dunno) an account, but I don't think I've ever posted there.
I had hoped that my post as written and then edited and then edited again would not come off as finding fault as I do not; But have absolutely busted a gut laughing at times at what gets edited. I think the thought process was once described as trying to create a "Family" atmosphere". So I get a chuckle when the occasional verbiage perceived as profane gets edited out even with modern casual language no longer considers it to be so. As I said absolutely inconsequential issues
AR15.com is the cool uncles house where you can do anything and get away with it (given the right forum of course)
ar-15.co is the uncles house you are always worried about getting the belt or ruler across the knuckles (Even though the chances of actually doing something to cause it are zero as I am not looking to run rampant through the forum using profane language at the drop of a hat. At the same time I do not care if some pre-teen that shouldn't be on here unsupervised anyway catches me using a swear word.
(sometimes perception does not lie in reality and I am trying to use a way out in left field example to describe a perception unfortunately it is hard to do so without seeming overly negative when that is not the case.)
Both methods have equal merit but back to your point. I think that is one of the differences that stands out their moderation is forum specific where here it is site as a whole specific.
I'm going to agree and disagree with USMC88-93 with regards to the moderation on this site.
I do like the fact that they kind of go out of their way to keep this place in line and keep things civil. Hell, the general respect and civility amongst the members here is the main reason I stay and participate.
But, as USMC88-93 mentioned, there are times when it seems the moderators step in when there really isn't much need for it in my opinion. But, like he said, "their site, their rules."
There's other websites?
Yes it is that place. Good Post ;)
I received a NEUTRAL 1 [ROFL2] for feed back from a MOD with this as his reason. Bad enough he can't spell four shit. But the reason. OH BOO FUKIN HOO.
This is a gun forum not a place to start negative comentary for no reason. Grow up
He didn't like i mentioned in one of the Tech Forum threads. I WOULDN'T DO BUSINESS WITH A DEAD BEAT. WITH info to back it up.
Paying member here also. But 80% is on the EE, 20% is on other subforums.
Big difference between a paying member on non-paying member too.
Poll here did not stipulate.
The captcha crap searching the EE is a load of BS for non-paying members IMHO. Perhaps if it was less restrictive, it would promote more use and foster more paying members.
There's several boards I pay or donate to enjoy more features, access to member only trading forums etc. Barfcom isn't one of them.
This is the only board where I don't feel like it's just a bunch of random tools chatting on the Internet. I haven't met a lot
of you but enough to know there are real people here. Real opinions and real character and when push comes to shove there is any number of dudes here who would step up to help a brother out.
I use it when I'm researching and to browse the FS sections. Other than I don't participate in any discussions they have there, it's a zoo.
