I just feel bad for the young men whose lives were ended by the scary gun.

Sad that some people have been conditioned to think this way.
One of these national treasures could have found the cure for cancer. That's right, we could have an actual cure for cancer, but nooooo.... some gun-happy guy had to keep his family from getting raped/murdered.

The part in the story about the verbal warning being used to identify location/numbers is interesting. If a team hears one voice and they've done their homework they know who's in the house and where. I guess you're taking a gamble here on how much value the bad team assigned to the element of surprise vs numbers.
Lessons to be learned, or is this going to be a Joke sessions? Keep your gun in reach, keep your cell in reach. What else?
Well, it's a fake article that's been going around the net for years, so I vote joke session. But I guess I'll let the adults talk now.
I respectfully disagree. He took the primary battle away from his wife and kids and while he was hurt it kept from from being physically harmed. If he had holed up waiting for the Cavalry (which wasn't coming based on what was reported) then all four likely would have reach that room they were all in nearly the same time and the odds of more than just him being hit would be greatly increased. I'm not going to second guess a single thing he did as he could have just as easily been asleep in his bed when they gained entry and things would likely have ended up much worse if they were trying to be reactive when already a couple steps behind the BG's and separated from their kids. Even though he went through hell and there's some mental trauma to everyone involved I feel like the best possible outcome was reached and given the BG's determination and preparation it could have just as easily gone much worse. I'm not going to second guess a single decision that was made in that story.
Um, I didn't say anything about leaving his wife. I said make sure the person left behind has a firearm too. Many people keep A pistol by the bed. In the story, his wife takes down the last person because he was out of the fight. If he didn't keep a second gun in there for her to use, it most definitely would have been different. That was what I was saying.
Lol, yup. :)
I thought it had too many holes to be true. The surviving gang member knew where they lived and I'm sure his flunkys could use Google Maps. I know of several people who live with their police scanners. Can you "scrub" 911 calls? A report would have to be filed by LE. Hole long can they keep it from the public?
Good "how to" on home invasions dos and don'ts though.
