In my dating days I know I converted a few from anti gun to pro gun. My wife was a hard core democrat. Took her shooting several times. As our relationship got more close I bought her a 9mm and a AR. For my wedding gift she bought me an AR10. At first she was very hesitant but as she realized how much fun shooting was she changed. 10 years now and no issues with my 2nd beleifs. She loves the fact that when were out and about I am CC. As I note I work in education, so I make it a point to take other fence sitting friends out to the range when I can. Nothing makes me more proud than when they join our ranks.
Also back in the dating scene. Feel for ya.
Most bizarre was young lady that thought 2A was an AA program. When I informed her what 2A was, she would have preferred that I was I was a recovering alcoholic or drug attic. Guns were bad. Guess where that went?
Thanks for the advice folks.
I went out with a teacher a few years back.. things were going very well.. we really hit it off. We were having lunch and her family came up.. Dad and brother military.. her niece and nephew.. her other nephew who 'isn't quite right'... She's 'really worried that someday he will be 'that' kid who shoots up a school...'
Needless to say guns came up, been around them her whole life.. knows how to shoot.. doesn't think anyone should need to carry one.. blah blah blah.. things went WAAAAYYY downhill fast after that. Which really sucks..because she was actually pretty cool.. She wasn't liberal either, which left me dumbfounded.
Apparently my distrust of the world and the people in it, the want to defend myself and those around me should the need arise.. just put a stop to it all.
I will never pretend to understand women.
My first and second wives really aren't into guns but they don't have a problem with me being an enthusiast.
My first wife did kind of think I was a little crazy or paranoid at first but when violent convicts escaped from the nearby prison and were last seen heading into our neighborhood I think she was much more understanding. Hell, she even took comfort knowing I was armed.
Guess it takes a personal experience that strikes a small amount of fear into a person before they really understand. Unfortunately, the majority of people will never have a personal experience where being armed would make them feel safer so they just won't get it.
Get rid of her asap!
