I think he's just a guy who wants a fair chance at going home after work. It's one thing to risk your life knowningly, it's a whole other thing when you feel someone's gunning for you and you'll likely be castigated publicly for defending yourself. I don't agree with his proposal but I sort of understand where he's coming from. In his mind, I suspect he thinks he's only talking about a temporary measure to keep the public situation defused. In our minds, it's a "temporary" measure that would never get lifted if the Dems have their way, the first (or second) step down a long path toward tyranny.

With all the alleged shootings from unethical cops maybe the right solution is to take the cops guns away... but of course I jest.

I think the issue for me is that I doubt that anyone is going to open carry to the RNC in an attempt to shoot up the place. Does this union leader really believe that stopping open carry for the RNC is going to make it safer for cops? It seems to me that this is rather misguided logic. I'd think the real risk is the illegally concealed guns, not open carry.

I might agree with this if he hadn't said, "I don't care if it's Constitutional or not..." After that, I lost any interest in his position. Even if he'd phrased it differently, I might see it that way. But not now. He can't walk that back.

Suspending the freedom of speech and the right to assembly would also temporarily address this problem. Just go down the list. These rights are yours. You're born with them. Unless of course things get really sketchy. Then we'll suspend them for a bit. Maybe you'll get them back.

BLM and new Black Panthers have a right to arm themselves like anyone else. If they start picking people off out of some kind of racial retaliation though, they need to be cut down.

Let's get real, he's a union rep, he IS a dem. he bought and paid for the package and now he's being paid by it. And no doubt, vying for the police chief job.

I was simply pointing out that the guy is scared and angry. People have a tendency to stay stupid stuff and consider extreme measures when they're scared and angry. I have no idea whether he's a Dem, Rep, or GDI like me. After Dallas and Baton Rouge -- and especially after the loathsome s--t Twitter and Facebook are allowing, I understand why some cops could be somewhat panicky -- I don't agree with it but can understand it.

What's really sad is what Officer Jackson posted on Facebook after Dallas:
