The building I work in is best described as a "cubicle ranch", far larger than a cube farm, there's hundreds of cubicles here. What blows my mind is how many people here are RABID fans of various teams and decorate their work spaces like lunatics, and also wear branded EVERYTHING with "their teams" BS on it. Just nuts IMO.
I used to be stupid about wearing Harley shit and having stickers on my vehicles, until I found out how vile that company really is and realized that I was actually paying a lot of money out to advertise FOR them. That's all "fan support" really is, is scamming people to pay out their own money to advertise FOR you. Yeah, fuckabunchathatshit.
Well so much for dictator sports.
This in spades. We have such beautiful fall days here in Colorado - it is criminal to waste them inside in front of a TV. Go do...anything.
And another +1 for HBARLeatherneck’s post.
Interesting post. I’m not agreeing or disagreeing. I think advertising and marketing are fascinating and loved it in b-school, but you wonder about those “misfires.” Harley people pretty well have “a look” as do NFL fans, but there are occasionally folks that probably don’t reflect a company’s values.
Incidentally, and going way off topic here - I’ve never gone to a sports game (any sport) in another city quite like Denver, but especially the Rockies. You just don’t see Rockies stuff here in town - it is like we are too cool. Go to just about any other stadium in MLB, and fans wear fans gear. But here you don’t see much Rockies, but all the fans have Alpinestars, Hurley, Patagonia, NeverSummer, NorthFace, Quicksilver/Roxy, etc, etc, etc, OR, their favorite team from their hometown, since this is a town of transplants. I just find it an interesting observation.
Do they realize this will come back to bite them in the @$$ next time they commit a felony? oh wait, my bad, they have access to the "best" legal teams money can buy...
Of course they don't want their victims to be able to fight back, that's just stupid to arm the opposition
