What Al did is wrong. However, I hesitate to call it "sexual assault" because it demeans and minimizes real victims of actual sexual assaults. But that is where our society is, one that elevates the victim onto a pinnacle so lofty that everyone attempts to be classed a victim; it is unfortunate that society doesn't instead reward the survivor.

Now these very serious words and accusations have been watered down to the point where 100% of society can be said to have "suffered" a sexual assault. Yes, even you. Even me. If you didn't sign the printed consent form that woman or man you were dating "assaulted" you when they made the first move. A wayward hand touched your butt in a club without your permission, your life is now horribly altered. What about the people who have suffered legitimate trauma? When they explain they were sexually assaulted, is everyone going to think "Oh, some guy touched a boob when they were asleep, anyway....".

Not directed toward OP, I just bemoan our new culture of victimization, where everyone is "grievously traumatized" for life over each and every of the simplest micro-aggression. For the record, I'm the utmost gentleman and have always found these actions by some men disgusting. But I also don't equate them to a "sexual assault" that alters and defines someone's life moving forward.

Looking at Colorado law we have multiple legal charges for unlawful sexual behavior- there's Sexual Assault (rape), and then there's Unlawful Sexual Contact- defined as ""Sexual contact" means the knowing touching of the victim's intimate parts by the actor, or of the actor's intimate parts by the victim, or the knowing touching of the clothing covering the immediate area of the victim's or actor's intimate parts if that sexual contact is for the purposes of sexual arousal, gratification, or abuse." This sounds like the behavior of Franken and many others without having to use the term "Sex Assault" or "Rape." Still bad, just not going all the way up to full on penetration or intrusion.
