Alex Trebek Dead at 80

I suppose I could say I was a body guard for Alex Trebek. In the 70's our martial arts group worked security for concerts providing personal guard service for numerous celebrities. For one event Alex Trebek served as the emcee for several bands and we escorted him from his limo to the stage and back over two days. At the time I wasn't familiar with who he was but I do remember he was a gentleman and kind to everyone.

Later he became more familiar to me as the host of Jeopardy and always the consummate professional.

Usually when Alex had to take $ back or rule incorrect,, it is upto the judges who rule correct or incorrect.

My wife thinks I am smart by getting 10-15 correct answers, but contestants can get 90%+ answers (questions) correctly. It is matter of who buzzes fastest.

10 to 15? LoL.
I had a coworker around 1998 who can get about 80%+ of the correct questions.

It is fun to see how much people know so many general knowledge.

I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. He was a consummate professional who was kind and polite to everyone. There were a few episodes where I was amazed that he held his composure when someone did/said something silly. And as someone else pointed out, the judges behind the scenes determined the outcome of some seemingly trivial 'errors'.

He was a good man. I'm just not a fan of celebrities in general.

He was Canadian. What did you expect? If you punch a Canadian in the nose he'll say, "Sorry".
