Dishwasher Recommendations???

Choosing a dishwasher is indeed a complicated process.

First you have to find one that you find attractive that's willing to go out with you, then you have to get to know her (making sure you're on the same page about important values and kids and all that). Then you have to test her sandwich making ability in addition to how good a dishwasher she is (I mean if she leaves spots on the glasses but makes an awesome po-boy, that's much better than someone with perfect dishwashing capabilities that can only make PB&J or Bologna on white bread).

And of course you have to look out for the crazy ones.

But keep looking, there's a dishwasher out there for everyone :)

It's funny you say this as I've been discussing a new refrigerator this week and because of the many problems/poor quality of both LG & Samsung I've decided I'll likely go with a Whirlpool. Sure, I'm talking refrigerators and not dishwashers, but the problems with LG and Samsung seem to carry over through all of their appliances. Because of this thread, I'll at least give Bosch a look and check out their reviews.

ETA: For the record, I despise dishwashers but my wife loves them. Since I'm going to have to hand clean them a bit before putting them into the washer I figure I might as well just wash them by hand completely and be done with it.

After reading that post all I can think to say is: So sorry to hear about your upcoming divorce (unless your wife is the type to simply just give you a beating). I don't even think that way as my wife would know and she would give me a beating.

Our LG Fridge debackle was horrible. Worse than horrible. Never again LG anything.

We now have a Bosch and are very happy.

Neither of us is a stranger to hand washing dishes, but with no kids and both of us being busy, it's just better to be able to put the dishes in the dishwasher and walk away. We try to prioritize where we spend time.

Looking at society in general today, damn am I glad I don't have to do that anymore.



All in all, looks like Bosch is the way to go.

3dB means double the sound level. So yes pay attention to those numbers.

We have a Bosch 500 series on the way. The secondary dishwasher unit prefers an actual push button to a touch type control system and that and +$300.00 is the only difference between the 500 and Benchmark series.
My mom loved her Bosch and would raise hell if we rinsed the dishes off.
There is a science behind not rinsing off your dishes, the soap needs food substance to properly activate.

Get a large dog for prewash and buy a simple kitchen aid. They are really quite so the dog rests easy.

I just love a dish washer thread in a gun forum. [LOL]

That said, I live in a Kenmore and GE house that are the loudest and most useless cleaners ever made.

Besides LG, I'd love to find a good and quiet dishwasher.

Dogs are the best cleaners but not right now.

Our LG DW was possessed until they finally replaced the door lock sensor board/latch with a redesigned part.

I will say it's quiet AF, so much that it's hard to tell if it's running when you walk into the room, but also agree that most of the newer ones don't have heating elements so therefore don't dry as well as the older models. If you open it while drying, you lose a lot of the heat and it will not recover. Ours has steam clean so it will strip paint off a fender.

Our range had to have the oven (plastic) inner dial control replaced at less than one year.

The DW also had a defective upper water tube feed. The rubber on the bottom came apart within two years. $168 part that was covered.

The MW and Fridge have been good but I did fight with LG over the door alignment on the fridge. Terrible fit and finish. DW tub was a little wonky too and even the range a little off. These were about $10K (retail) for the set, so not cheap, but not stupid either. Dual fuel range and Fridge were the two big ticket but even the DW was over $1K.
