If both of the parties are not working for you, the citizen, are there two parties? Or just one? The Republicrats, or the Demolicans?
2 sides of the same coin. They enrichen themselves, their family members, and political contributors at our expense.
The GOP establishment are the Washington Generals of politics.
So does Curly Neal, got rest his soul
The Republican Party abandoned Conservatives after Reagan. The Republican Party is no different in scope and view than the Dem's. The difference is the Dem's don't hide the goal or speed at which they are trying to bring change to the country. The Republicans are just on a slower path and try and hide the agenda. Until most voters realize this there will not be any reversing the course.
The Republican Party had already abandoned Conservatives when they refused to get behind Goldwater. Reagan was much like Trump, hated by the Establishment and undermined at every turn.
This is an old problem. And the truth is, the people don't want a rigorous and vital liberty, they want 3 hots and a cot. The American people are lazy, venal and corrupt, so why do we think our government would be any different.
This article addresses issues behind several of the comments made so far in this thread: "The Atheism of the West"
Here is an article I came across on another forum. It discusses how the "conservative side" has largely given up on many of the more traditional morals in a concession to the "progressive side". It also points out how subtle the morals were replaced without the general public being aware. The article discusses an insight published by Augusto del Noce (1910-89) regarding the cultural revolution that occurred in the 60s. The gist of the article is that during the cold war, the west sold our collective soul to defeat communism. We turned our backs on patriarchy and religion and replaced them with eroticism, positivism, and secularization.

Sort of a case of common means to a common end.
We have replaced natural law with the fickle laws of man.
There's more to this article than what I sort of highlighted. I thought this was good food for thought. I won't spoil it.
