Cabela's is going to pay you more than any independent shop

Been to both of Old Steel's previous shops, they have some cool stuff for sure! But damn pricey.
I found an older LSI/Rossi 92 Short Rifle in .44-40 there once that was in on consignment. It was pretty filthy, but you could tell it was unfired - no brass markings on the loading gate or carrier, no soot anywhere. But the consignee hadn't put a price on it, so I couldn't buy it. Called them for weeks, the guy never priced it and finally pulled it out and kept it. I had the cash in hand too, made my ass red.....
The Firing Line in Aurora can also have some interesting items in their used cases. I have picked-up some good deals there.
I went to Old Steel for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I agree that it is a nice shop but overpriced. The kicker for me was that they charged a $35 fee for "paperwork" when I bought a gun. While it included the $10.50 CBI fee I have never, ever had a shop charge a fee when purchasing a gun they had in stock. Private transfers yes. Receiving a gun bought online yes. But charging a fee for a gun in inventory? C'mon
Stopped by Old Steel's new location yesterday, nice place. All their stuff is very high priced, but I saw one thing I thought was reasonable - a RIA .45 1911 for $449.
