Wow that is infuriating! Do you have a dog by chance? I wonder if mine would make enough noise to alert me in such a scenario... but I agree with earlier posts. Making sure the door closes and vehicles are locked is sadly necessary. I'm amazed I still see my neighbor kids just walk right into the front door of their house after school, knowing full well the parents are at work... not even locked. Maybe the older kid is home, I don't know... but you're right about the towns we grew up in being gone.
I know everyone likes their cameras high, but I have a few lower ones for if they are wearing hats. I have high and lower ones that are camoed pretty well. They stole the high ones by getting on the roof of the house. I bought three packs of stealth cams for $150. They take 8 AA batteries and last about a year on a set.

Yeah we have 2 dogs but they must not have heard them
How infuriating!
Kim Komando advises storing your car remotes in a metal box to prevent people from activating them from outside. I don't know if that hack works for garage door remotes as well but I no longer leave the remotes for my garage door opener in any vehicle parked outside and I'm going to clear out the built-in remote on the Jeep I park outside.
This brings back bad memories when my Aurora house garage door didn't close 20 years ago. The thieves targeted all my tools and auto detailing equipment. I lost a lot of money in tools that day. I got nothing back. It's definitely nice to have all the surveillance equipment now. Colorado cities don't prosecute thieves; that's the reality. Happy it was just stuff. It was really unnerving knowing that they had access to the house through the garage.
Yep we have changed up a lot of stuff in the last few days. Hoping these guys screw up and post something for sale or stop at the local pawn shops or get caught with the gun or other items with serial numbers.
One thing that really sucks is insurance. Sure they cover it with a deductible but then I was told premiums usually go up 10-20% for 3 years and just pray you don’t have another claim. If it was a big $$ number it makes sense if not you are basically just out.
Whole neighborhood is now on high alert and seen some patrolling going on. If these guys come back I don’t think it will end up well for them as the sheriff has been around a ton.
