Seriously, I don't know about magpies. But our woodpeckers don't like a supersoaker with chili powder and old cheap perfume. We eventually just put bird houses over the holes in the house.

When I was a kid there was a bounty on them. They kill sheep by pecking out their eyes and going for the brain. If you took a right wing in to the sheriff they would give you money for them.
That article lends doubt to whether the American/Korean/Eurasia magpies are the same species...
these two articles also state that the black billed magpie is native to North America and Canada...
