What's wrong? It looks almost as good as the soldering job I did for one of the members here a week or so ago.
Professional circuit board soldering at Great rates, PM me. [Coffee]
I was puzzled as to how one would actually consider letting this leave their shop (or kitchen table)???
A well placed punch low on the sight was sufficient to knock it off of the barrel. I was not surprised to see that even though it was obvious the amount of heat put to this there was no penetration of the braze.
After chipping away the flux and half of the braze it was:
File, say bad words, File, say some more bad words and wish unholy things upon the artist responsible, Sand, File some more, Sand and it finally appeared that there was a stainless barrel under the mess.
There was some pitting where the steel cooked on the OD of the barrel but the bore is clean after slugging and lapping it. I squared the muzzle and re-crowned it.
The old ramped sight was trash, the base was tweaked more than likely from the original attempt to remove it. Now the only way the sight base is available is on a complete barrel and the owner did not want to re-barrel it.
I decided to go ala' Vaquero or Single Action Army with a blade but the owner did not want the straight backed blade so it would not snag upon drawing.
I took a 1/8" piece of 304 stainless and whittled one out. I am not sure if the proportions are quite right, but it is the same height and length as the stock ramped sight.
I milled a slot in the barrel .075 deep and fit the blade for a press fit. I then Silver brazed the blade in place and tried to match the original brushed finish as well as I could.
The ejector rod spring was in fact replaced, the old one had lost it's temper and would not even return the rod to it's rest position.

Wow, a total 180. Very impressed.
Nice work Bert! [Beer]
MUCH better!!! Turd polishing at it's finest.
that is living proof, that a piece of shit can most certainly be polished to a shiney finish, by a professional of course. That is an amazing outcome considering what you started with. Nice work to say the least[M2]
When I first saw this I choked on the mtn dew I was drinking and it came out my nose. True story
I'm shocked the rifling isn't totally out of specs after that much heat was applied to the SS barrel.
You would have had to clean the shit off the barrel if that was my gun, cuz i would have inserted it into the guys ass before I left.
