I have been a customer of Shawn for several years. So far his outfit has parkerised an AK, and a Jungle Carbine. He has reblued a 586 and a Model 19. The Smith techs checked the model 19 for me(for another reason) and they said the blue was good as the original. Now as far Teffcoating, he has done an 3 XD pistol slides, 2 XDM Slides, 2 FNP slides, 1 Glock slide, an entire winchester shotgun, a 30/06 Mauser build, two FN patrol rifles and a SIG 556 Swat . His work is immaculate. When I find a good firearm worthy of a refinish it goes to him. The finish he puts on holds better than the factory finish in fact note how many XD and XDMs he has done for me, his finish is far superior to the finish that SA places on those fine pistols.
Sorry about the crappy pictures. Anyways the 9mm and 40SW XDMs slides in the pictures were refinished. When compared to my new XDM 45 you cant tell the difference in color etc. Except the finish is more durable. In reference to the SIG SWAT I asked for a lighter tone vs the upper. Great work and better than the SIG finish it came with. In fact I bought that rifle new and when it arrived it scratched up. SIG customer service would not do a darn thing to make it right so I sent it to Shawn. Also the FN Patrol Rifle pictured took a nice fall down the side of hill in 2008 with me on a deer hunt while we were filming a hunting show for the "Outdoor Edge Love of the Hunt". I was so sad after that because I just dinged up a 900 dollar rifle and 500 dollar scope. Anyways they took it in and you cant tell anything ever happened to it. I also have a rifle that can hold up to the elements.
I am very impressed by his work and have spent a some bucks over the years on his services. So far my requests have been for just one color base because I was just trying to make things more durable with a better finish. So for those of you that want your guns to look new or special this guy can do it. I will be sending him a IMBEL FAL after the start of the new year. Can wait to see where that goes. In closing getting your slides or firearms out to Shawn is pretty easy. I just use USPS insured when I send a slide. I usally get it back within 2-3 weeks wi.th an email from Shawn letting me know what is going on. Rifles I send out via. Fed Ex. I have noticed over the years many people looking for work to be done, this is another excellent option for you.
