I've done volunteer work here in Colorado Springs with food pantries and the Homeless Shelter, etc (it was a church thing).
One thing I noticed about the food pantires which get lots of "just expired" foods from local groceries donated to them is that they get more food donated than the Soup Kitchens and Homeless Shelter(s) can take. So much so that the one year I worked @ just one of the Springs pantries to help clean it is that even with rotation of donated foodstuffs they still get a lot of things like bread, etc. that molds or goes bad before it can be distributed.
You won't find these "Occupy" folks taking any of THAT food because they are ABOVE that sort of food & "charity". No, they want places that spend good money to buy good fresh food for their business (so the business can provide for their own incomes as well as the incomes of their employees) to give them freshly prepared food.
Same sort of mentality that they use when rejecting the homeless that come into their midst for freebies. These Occupy folks are above the homeless, they're too good to work at any job less that being the top dog, and too good to do anything other than b!tch & whine about how unfair things are in this country.
While I acknowledge that many of these folks likely have considerably greater formal education than I have, they prove a point I've made for MANY years: Education does not necessarily translate into intellegence.
They have eyes but they refuse to see.
They have ears but they refuse to hear.
They have minds but they refuse to think.
