The part of the discussion I was involved in didn't really have much to do with the TV show itself. Regardless, I don't really see your point.

If seen those shows like ER shows and such that clearly are actors trying to reenact the story but this is made to be like an actual recording of these people who supposedly have phobias but they're just silly. It's clearly made to not look like actors acting out scripts. But seriously, who's that afraid of puppies... regardless of if it's a pit or a rottie or a chow... it's a cute little puppy!
The discussion is about a TV show specifically. If you haven't seen the show in question how are you able to comment? You can try to argue all you want but it seems a little silly to even be involved. I don't get involved in discussions between women about giving birth or making sandwiches.
Its possible that its the real people and they reenacted their therapy after the fact (otherwise you'd have to shoot footage of a lot of people that fail at overcoming their phobias).
As for fear of cute puppies, that's just sad. In the same way little kids that can't eat Ice Cream because of lactose intolerance is sad.
Humans are strange creatures, 'bout the only way I can put it. I have a SIL that's scared totally ****less of June bugs, for crying out loud. I mean terrified of them! But only June bugs. Guy that lives next door will piss down both legs if he sees a garter snake while he's mowing his yard. Only thing I'm really bad about is claustrophobia.
One of my kid's coworkers (a 6 ft 3, 240 lb Sheriff's Deputy) is deathly afraid fo ALL dogs. Even my girls (13 and 15 lb shihtzus that are about as threatening as bunny slippers...even cats don't run from 'em).
