A friend inherited his dad's pistol , bullets weren't set back. They were green and gunky. It likely would have only went bang once. Some gun owners are not as enthusiastic as others. Same thing happens with cars.

I had just discovered something like the first post in my 1911 last week. It'd been cycled into the chamber about 8 times or so. The reason you would do that to a round is that it is expensive SD ammo, and you practice with Less expensive FMJ ammo (after testing the SD ammo for reliability of course).
