I'm having a hell of a time just finding some regular ol .45ACP 230Gr.
It's not that we have been disarmed [YET] but more unprepared. Not having on hand say 500-1000 rounds per firearm is UNPREPARED. Magazines. well that speaks for itself. Especially when you hear, " i have 2 mags that came with the gun" Come 6 years later the same person is complaining about "price gouging, this ffl charged me that", etc. Poor planning on your part (generalization) does not constitute and emergency on my part
We see ammo on line, or on the shelf, we buy it. I don't feel we have enough on hand, however we will get by. YMMV
Well, there are gun owners, gun enthusists, hunters, casual shooters and then competitors. I doubt the average US gun owner goes through even 50 rounds a year. The avid hunter might go through a few hundred rounds a year. There are competitors who go through well over 100K rounds annually. The average 3 gunner/USPSA pistol competitor is probably in the 10K range...half are shooting more and half less, but that is a LOT of ammo.
On December 15th, my family went to the range to shot steel challenge...we went through 1200 rounds in one day! I try to keep about a year supply on hand, but if this keeps up much longer, I will have to dig into my supply or cut back on shooting matches...already cut out the live fire practice.
