Nickolauson died at the scene; Walker died after being transported to the hospital and kept on life support until his parents arrived. The other students, including Ryker, were also taken to the hospital with a variety of wounds. Ryker had a perforated lung, but he made a full recovery.

The kid did a great thing, no question about it at all. Is the school in the wrong?.. Absolutely.
Being really enthusiastic about a huge cash settlement over it all? Disappointing.
It's because he didn't use a school-approved ball point pen, or throw his backpack at the guy. Physical violence isn't cool... might hurt the shooter's self esteem.
