NRA giving in?

I believe they had a rep testify at the Capitol recently.

On that note though, there is one massive long term problem with the NRA.

Problem #1: Generally speaking, they get more money if there is "gun control". They stop existing if the problem is permanently resolved. While they are certainly a positive organization, they are an organization that will never (unless forced) take any action towards permanently and forever resolving it.They have a history of wanting to avoid SCOTUS rulings or any amendments. NRA didn't want DC. vs. Heller they initially worked against it - when they realized it was happening with or without them, they finally jumped on board for the drive.

With the above holdings, they are beneficial to our cause in the short term. But someday, I'd like to see an organization more dedicated to long-term solutions take rise. Won't ever see it.

Problem is, there is always a next fight right now, and it only gets harder. NRA is great in the moment, but a lot of people's sole reliance upon it will likely ultimately doom the 2A many many years in the future.

Note: This is not me agreeing with Dudley in any way. I am supportive of the NRA, they fight, I just know they won't "fix" anything.

While I generally agree, if you really look at it, the 2nd Amendment, was intended to be the "fix", it's just being ignored, and that will never change. The reason we have the NRA (in it's current form) is because of trying to undo the fix to begin with. I don't see the NRA actively ginning up fights against us, when times were better, they were actively working to try and push the boulder back up the hill with shall issue, and right to carry bills around the country where there was any possibility of passing them. It's not like they sat on their heals.

However it's pretty obvious when fair weather gun owners see fit to only support the NRA when their rights are threatened. Hence the record numbers of life memberships, and new memberships happening now, like in 08, and other recent swings. If people made it a priority all of the time to continue to fight for it, the NRA wouldn't see huge influx when rights are in immanent threat.
