Cowboys and Aliens
No. The only stupid part was Prince coming out of the blue to shoot Evans on the platform, despite being tied up in the stampede just moments before. Surely Wade or Evans would've noticed him getting out and approaching before he was 10 yards away.
That being said, it was well-acted, the pace kept things in motion, and the characters actually had some life behind them.
Evil Roy Slade.
Outlaw Josie Wales or Pale Rider
Pretty much all of them
For the sake of friendly banter.
Fails:
Casting Russell Crow (can't stand) as the predictable bad guy.
Casting Christian Bale (actually like) as the predictable reluctant protagonist.
A plot line that was figued out in the first ten minutes.
Lots of predictable events.
Trite ending.
Appaloosa was one of my favorite "pardner" movies.
Death Rides a Horse was a pre Clint spag. western. Had his character pegged. Even had Lee Van Cleaf.
Hey what's that one Western where a town is having a problem with some bad guys, and no one seems to be able to stand up to them, but just in time a new guy/s ride into town who don't want any trouble, but aren't afraid to stand up for what's right, at the same time, the beautiful, and usually unattached girl in town develops a love interest in the brave protagonist?
Oh all of them.
I gotta go with Tombstone since I'm not a big western guy. The original Alamo if that counts as a western?
I might be mistaken but the Alamo you saw is only part of what used to be standing. There was a larger wall further out. Like a fort. The building in downtown San Antonio is only the actual church that was inside the fort.
I think.
Guess I should have paid more attention during "Texas history month" when I was in school.
Neither the movie nor the building site mentioned that little detail.
Maybe that part of the exhibit was in the Alamo's basement.
Oh, guess I could mention a few of my favorites. I'm sure they've all been mentioned before in this thread but here they are.
More recent ones....
Unforgiven
Open Range
Tombstone
Silverado
Lonesome Dove (may or may not be considered a movie but a great western none the less)
Older ones....
Anything with Clint Eastwood or John Wayne
I pretty much like them all.
Especially The Rifleman on Saturday mornings. Watching it now.
