Had a great time pdoggin with Killianak9 today despite 25+ MPH winds that came blowing in with the storm clouds. Lost track of how many varmints we dispatched, but two shots in particular were unforgettable.
The first was a confirmed 206 yard Pdog hit by Rick with his .17 HMR, even with a wicked howling crosswind! I helped him finish it off with my 22-250 since it was still crawling around like a zombie, dragging it's bowels behind him!
The next was a wabbit trying to hide from the wind in some brush about 100 yards away. Popped him with my 22-250 and saw him fly in the air a good four feet before landing out of view. Once we caught up with it, we discovered that I had made a true "hole in one"! However, we had no idea how devastating the shot truly was until I fished it out. It was a head shot that entered it's nose, then blew out it's entire insides back, including one if it's hind legs that was found several feet away! Boom!
I know it has been discussed in the past. I'm sure that rabbit was damaging property and not shot for sport out of season. Sorry to be a buzzkill. Great shot BTW.
thats some good damage from that 22-250
Damn Irving, you aren't supposed to use .338 Lapua on p-dogs....
Oh sorry, what about raccoons?
Never trust anything that bleeds for 7 days and doesn't die.
if it bleeds... we can kill it
Today was all about the head shots. So many, we lost count. Here's a beauty with my 22-250 at a couple hundred yards. POP goes the Pdog!
The Hail Mary shot of the day. A good 300+ yards away and it still flipped him a couple feet in the air!

Nicely done bro!
Awesome job 👍
Went with the usual Savage 22-250 and Browning T-Bolt 17 HMR load out today, but quickly figured out that the 17 HMR would be getting limited use because of the 15+ MPH winds that greeted me when I got on scene. The Savage did well, bagging a 200, and 290 yard kill right out of the gate. It continued to wreak havoc with kills from 200-300+ yards, including this nice 342 yard pop. Not my longest records, but despite the winds which only got worse as the day went on, I still managed to get kills in the double digits.

The arrow shows where I took it from. Not my best day ever, but I still managed to get some pretty decent kills in the double digits, despite having to fight the winds all day. Of course, I got a CQB with the Browning as well. (Close Quarter Bunny).

I tried to run over a prairie dog this morning just for you, but he waddled out of the way just in time.
Went pdoggin with RCCrawler today and killed it! After locking in a sub-moa grouping on my new Mossberg MVP Patrol .223/5.56, we went on to triple digit kills of Pdogs, and double digits in wabbits! The majority of the kills were with his suppressed .22 LR and my Browning T-Bolt .17 HMR out to about 200 yards. Tons of headshots, flips, and even a couple 2 for 1 kills! There were also a few nice .22-250 kills, and a bunch of jaw dropping .223 explosions using my 50gr Z-MAX reloads at close range! All in all, easily one of my most productive days yet, and that's saying something!
Jealous. I was going to go out today but I decided to stay home and get some "honey-dos" checked off the list.
This threads always makes me want to blow up small critters. I think tomorrow I shall get me a few!
Oh man we did some serious damage today. At one point we were surrounded by pdogs and both together shooting as quick as we could we couldn't keep up with reloading quick enough. I have a feeling my trigger finger is gonna be sore tomorrow. [AR15]
We got the 3, 2, 1, fire thing down too, 1 report, 2 .223 rounds in flight. You know the timing is on point when you keep having to ask the other guy if he got his shot off.
The funniest part of the day was when we started and I kept firing and Randy was panicking thinking something was wrong with my gun, he kept thinking something was wrong with the firing pin. Nope, it's just that quiet.
I'm jealous. :(
Muwhahaha...
Just need to get out there and talk to land owners and ask for permission ! snow man
Today was fun. Went thru some 300 rounds. The 17HMR took several pdogs and flipped a wabbit in the air a few revolutions. The 22-250 did what it does best. Blow shit apart. Here's a fun little hole at 200 yards that I camped on for a bit. After killing the first one, I proceeded to take out the next four, (or was it five?), as each came out to check on the last. Pretty sure this last one didn't feel anything. Not for very long anyways.
I was out for my first p-dog shoot yesterday as well. At one point I went 5/5 and 4/6 a half-hour later, but averaged closer to 2 shots/1 kill for the day. I guess I can't complain for using a POS leapers 3-9x scope... My furthest confirmed was 245m, my host's was 280m, both shooting .223. It was a literal blast!
I got out Monday for a half day and sent 120 of the rats to sod poodle heaven by way of .17 power.
they don't get shot at much and the youngin's ain't got a clue.[Coffee]
It was pretty toasty out there on the plains yesterday. Longest shot of the day was only about 220 yards, but still went double digits easily, including a bunch of head shots, (peeking out of their holes), and a nice (1) shot/ (2) kills at about 150 yards. Both the Browning 17 HMR and Mossberg MVP Patrol .223 contributed to the body count. I could have stayed longer as the action was still steady, but after (9) hours of baking in the sun, I started feeling some mild heat exhaustion, so decided to call it a day.
Buckaroo, have you ever shot a local prairie dog match?
