My thoughts are also with the first responders. They will live with the the images they witnessed today forever. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
Hope parents, teachers, kids and responders are all provided counselling ASAP.

HERE WE GO!!
ar-15.co school system anyone.?
I hate the media
My kid's school is ALWAYS locked. Only parents and teachers with a unique personal code can get in. Even during busy drop-off and pick-up. Others have to be visually identified and then buzzed in by staff.
Wouldn't keep out the serious crazies like this guy, but at least it's a good security policy that would slow down a bad guy and give the school time to lock down rooms or get kids out...
I echo this... One of my buddies on Jeffco was among some of the first to respond to Columbine, and he said that was the worst day on the job he ever had to deal with. There is nothing, let me clarify: NOTHING, worse than hearing on the radio "Active shooter" and "School." Heartbreaking. The cops up in CT woke up this morning and this was the last call they ever wanted to have to respond to.
Saw the speech while I was home for lunch... he was red eyed and trying not to cry. I'll bet he sheds no tears as he signs legislation that further kills our Bill of Rights.
UPDATE on the latest from FNC and local CT outlets:
[Dickless] (name not being mentioned) grew up in Newtown, CT, mom was a teacher at the elementary school. [Dickless] currently resides in Hoboken, NJ, father found shot to death in NJ. Mother presumed dead. 20 children confirmed dead, 5 adults, 1 [dickless] shooter. Reports from CT state police say he entered the school dressed in "military style clothing" during the morning announcements, went into the admin offices, opened fire, then entered a classroom. Horrible. I hope hell is treating him appropriately. [Mad]
Its up to 28
I had to close Facebook and turn off the TV; I couldn't take any more of this today. Just terrible, and how people are already politicizing this makes me sick.
This, folks, will be the event that changes gun rights in our country...
I had to do the same. I think I have several friends who are "unfriending" me on FB as we speak. They are all chanting "gun cotrol" and I tried to chime in and explain that will only keep them out of the hands of honest people. Didn't go over well. It's like a linch mob out there. LOTS of anti gun talk going on. This may be the beginning of the end.
yes sickening.....
even if we who believe people are the evil ones not tools or objects there will be those gun owners who will give in do to this and make us extreme enthusiasts and off our rockers and not sensible. It will be interesting to say the least of what we will become with a stroke of pen. I have always believed myself a law abiding citizen and good person. I will NOT sacrifice my beliefs or thinking because of a sick individual's actions.
I'm a school teacher.....Are we going to lump everyone into one group? I'm not a liberal, and many of the teachers are conservative as well. Isn't that is what the media is going to do to gun owners on this issue? The reason there is no police officer at every school is because most people don't want to pay for it. Most people have the mindset of "it won't happen to me" There are several teachers at my school who have CCW including myself. There are many of us that would love to carry at work to be able to counter someone like this. We can't until the law changes.
Here is how Israel handles school security:

Panic buying is started, 20 minutes ago CBI had a backlog of 471 now 538.
It is ironic that the age group of these idiots that do these terrible things is about the same, early twenties, I think that is the age group that voted the most for Barry (AKA Obama).
it will go one way or the other. People will either choose to protect themselves or trust the Gov't to protect them. Every person I know is arming themselves. Even the people who were once against firearms.
My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved. The God comfort you beyond all understanding.
Happy Birthday To me ....................... Can I go back to bed ?
Why can't these fucks skip the part where they hurt others and go right ot the part where they shoot themselves?
Y'all best stock up on these too.

I imagine there's going to be a lot of boating accidents in the near future.
:p
Like Jeffco Schools banned backpacks after Columbine. Knee jerk- it really gets nothing done.
Yep, my generation... [Shake] Being in my late 20's a lot of people I know are pretty left leaning. Emotionally run, illogical creatures.[facepalm]
Now there are reports that the "Ryan Lanza" who is suspected of perpetrating this, is alive and well and not involved:

They're speculating it could be his 20 year old brother Adam...
Man I have been hearing about this all day! This is a sad sad day. Fucking punk ass sick shits! There are 26 people that will not see a xmas this year or anything the rest of their lives. They didn't deserve this, the damn sicko needed a damn Enema! My thoughts for everyone on this tragic day. Hug your little ones tonight....I don't know what I would do if someone like this had gotten to my daughter.
Being a dad to two young kids and being an elementary school teacher... I cried today for the first time in a long time.
Dammit... The grabbers are already calling for legislation before the crime scene has even been fully canvassed:

Here's a letter I wrote to them:
Quote:
Dear Ladd Everitt,
In reference to your statement on today's tragic events, I feel, as a gun owner, veteran, and firearms instructor, that your position of knee-jerk, emotional, ignorance is one that is not conducive to the ongoing debate on how to increase safety and security around our nation. This behavior, as viewed by the gun owning public, is never acceptable. No lawful, respectable gun owners would ever condone actions like those taken this morning. We respect life, especially those of our children. Your organization, along with the Brady Campaign Against Gun Violence, has this fallacious belief that somehow, someway, banning guns will solve anything. These uniformed, emotionally charged beliefs held by the anti-gun community fail to take into account that criminals have absolute zero regard for gun bans, gun control legislation, and any other law that may stand in their way. Are you aware that murder, drunk driving, rape, and assault are all illegal? But for some reason these crimes still happen daily. Contrary to whatever strange, fantasy-world beliefs you and your supporters may have, law-abiding gun owners do not commit crimes. Guns themselves do not commit crimes. Laws banning or "controlling" guns do not deter crimes, they only hinder the law-abiding people who either own guns for their protection and/or hunting/shooting sports.
Your line, and I quote: "If we’ve reached a point where our children cannot attend school without fear of being gunned down by a homicidal maniac who has obtained easy access to firearms, then the freedom we cherish as citizens of the world’s greatest democracy is at risk of extinction." This is a typical "knee-jerk" reaction. One incident happens, while tragic, horrible, and inexcusable, millions of other children will be going home safe tonight, and will return to school safely on Monday. It is groups like yours, and the Brady Campaign, that are the greatest risk to our freedom and liberty. Would you ever condone a ban on certain words just because they're hurtful or offensive? Should we limit the 1st Amendment because people don't like what others are saying or because some say things that incite violence and death? Of course not, these are rights not given by our fellow man, or governments, or legislators, these are rights endowed by our creator, whichever creator you wish to believe in- yet another unalienable right. So what is the difference between the first and the second amendment to the United States Constitution? As an American Veteran who swore an oath to protect and defend that constitution, I see no difference between the two. I see an assault on any freedoms expounded upon in our Constitution as morally, legally, and ethically wrong. In fact, any infringement, on a most basic level, is no more justified than the actions of a depraved, deranged, and cowardly murderer who goes and shoots up a school.
I hope this letter will better inform you of my personal position, and what I can say is the same position of many law abiding parents, children, brothers, sisters, and fellow Americans who just happen to own guns. I ask that you refrain from emotionally charged, irrational, reactionary rhetoric that attacks an inanimate object, and instead go after the behavior and criminals that perpetrate these horrific events.
Thank you,

Sorry if it's so long...
You know, I can't help but think "Are you telling me NO ONE had the means or the will to defend themselves and these kids against this maniac??" I know what the politicians will do but we seriously need to look at what the real reason behind this violence is. We've gone far beyond blaming the availability of guns. Why does not one consider that maybe its because the adults fed these kids all kinds of drugs to control their "behaviour problems" and now their efforts are coming to fruition? Maybe its because the younger generation is drinking gallons of energy drinks and its having an effect? NOPE! Must be the guns fault. Im ALMOST frustrated enough to say go ahead and ban what you want so in a few years we can see that it affected NOTHING just like the previous AWB.
How long before this site goes down...
Bunch of angry idiots on facebook after this. One said if he had a knife then this wouldn't have happened. I then linked him to the China incident. He shut up.
