The new 300 sucked.
We watched The Croods and Frozen. The Croods was about what I expected. I had heard that Frozen was the best Disney movie for many years, but it seemed like much more song to content ratio than usual.
Just saw an interview with Kevin Sorbo, he's in a new movie coming out on Friday, now I'm not the most religious person, but this actually looks pretty good. Might make it a Monday matinee, since the GF isn't really into religious films (I told her want to see Son of God, and she said to see it without her)... Starring Hercules, the Robertsons, and the guy we haven't seen in ages, Dean Cain! "God's Not Dead"- which has a great premise, all about college and the issue of professors alienating Christians.

As long as it's better as Godzilla (1998), which I think any cartoon can be, and as good as Cloverfield, I'll be happy!

Just watched old boy......weird but not totally horrible.
I just watched what I thought was a great movie. Did a search in the thread but didn't see it come up. It was called "Memorial Day" and it's on Netflix. I never saw it advertised but I'm glad I found it.
Basically it's about a guy serving in Iraq who recalls his early teen years and what he learned from his WWII-vet grandfather after finding grandpa's old army footlocker in the barn. The boy finds all sorts of mementos in the foot locker and an emotional grandpa explains how he got them. Pretty touching. Worth a watch.
The GF and I watched "Saving Mr. Banks" starring Tom Hanks as Walt Disney. Really good movie! It's about Walt trying to make Mary Poppins, and honestly, Paul Giamatti almost steals the whole show.

Odd Thomas. No, not Ginsue. Pretty fun movie that got heavy. Addison Timlin makes me all tingly.

Evidently, they could not make P.L. Travers course enough in Saving Mr. Banks. Sounds like she was a BOWs.
Definitely check it out.
I'll trade you ALL of the hard covers for a complete 16" upper.
THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE. Its on NETFLIX. Jimmy Stewart, Lee Marvin and a solid bunch of character actors.
Now Showing:
Hatari!

Whats not to like? The Duke, Red Buttons, real African wildlife. Crazy driving and some decent shooting. No way this movie ever gets remade.
Still the best Batmen movie Eevarr!

Disclaimer: I think Tom Cruise is a certifiable nutcase.
-that said...."Jack Reacher" (2012) wasn't terrible.
Watched Hunger Games: Catching Fire. A lot more intense than the first movie.
Just got back from Captain America. Good movie, and a strong political message that I think a lot on this forum will agree with.
Ahhh! Watching all these Godzilla videos and I'm just thinking "May 16th absolutely cannot get here any sooner!!!!" I can't remember the last time I wanted to see a movie so bad... Oh yeah, Lone Survivor. Still.
+1
I do hope it does not let us old nostalgia nerds down...
I will state the "Grand Budapest Hotel", if you are a true movie fan who likes directorial eye candy, great actors, and a witty plot, is one to see:

I'm watching a pretty cool documentary about Muscle Shoals called... Muscle Shoals. It's on Netflix.
Saw Odd Thomas. They did a pretty good job with the movie. They left a pretty big part out from the book, but it totally makes sense to leave it out for the movie.
If you're a fan of musical history / music, check out The Buena Vista Social Club. Very interesting window in to cuban / latin music

Some movies I watch have some missing scenes from previews.
Just got back from Godzilla. Was AMAZING
What ridge said! Although I had a few nit picky gripes about some of the military stuff, namely the EOD HALO jump (I've yet to meet any EOD guys who are HALO trained) and of course the scene in NV where two helicopters are a few feet off the ground and there is no rotor wash. Other than that, badass movie, everything I was hoping it would be as well.
