Friends, this site is DEFINITELY under the scrutiny of multiple news sources from around the globe. I've seen new accounts today from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and USA Today and I've just gotten started looking at them.
If news sources are checking us out, you know the government is as well.
We need to be especially mindful of what we say and how we portray ourselves and firearms in general.
I know that every member here is a good decent person and we come from all walks of life, but there will certainly be those who will attempt to portray a passion for firearms as something sick and twisted due to the actions of an evil and sick individual. Let's ensure the world see's the best that we can be and maybe they might realize that it's the individual, not the tool, that must be vilified here.

Pic is from the Denver Post.
Is that the shooter's gun??

it is likely the shooters rifle, car and pistol on the car.
Shooter had an AR-15, a glock .40, and a remington semi-auto shotgun. 71 people were shot, I think the death toll is latest at 15.
Something looks weird about that rifle... From the Denver Post
What looks weird about it? Looks like a sling distorting the profile to me.
Wow, I was in a sealed room all morning, just got home from work and heard about all of this... Very sad indeed. We should all spend less time arguing on forums and more time praying for the victims, their families, and everyone else affected. Think about all the kids who were in that theater... This is so darned awful it makes me sick to my stomach.
I don't even care what this guy's affiliation is. Compassion is a key element that defines humanity and an act like this is just not human.
For anyone who wonders where the CCW holders were that night, I cannot imagine trying to shoot accurately while choking on tear gas (I've done that before... it's darn near impossible) WHILE in a very dark room with only flashing lights from the screen, AND with innocent people running everywhere, AND at probably more than 20 yds away.. I am not that skilled of a shooter.
I have been a member since 2009, in my eyes this sight has developed into one of the biggest, closest, information rich local sites on the net. I also see the biggest focus of this sight being SAFETY in the use of our firearms and education of the general public about our chosen platform and firearms in general.
We can change peoples opinion about the sport and firearms owners in general. We need to watch certain stupid comments and put emotions in check because more than ever we can have a positive voice in a uneducated media.
These families affected are going to need support and the general public is going to need an example of responsible, caring gun owners. I take this attack very personal as I'm sure most of you do as well, maybe we can figure some way to help.
