I do it a little different. I juice for break and lunch and have a salad with meat for dinner ie ham cubes, chicken chunks etc nothing big but solid. Went straight Juice on Tues and have not had the cravings I guess because I weaned off solids.

Don't know that it will, but this isn't a forever thing. Just a "fast" to knock off as much as possible in a couple of months and adjust to not eating solid stuff, so that you can "start over" with a different mindset about what solid food to eat. At least that's MY approach and attitude.
Trust me, I'm an eatin' sumbitch. There's not many things that I WON'T eat. But while I'm stuffing it in my yap I'll tell myself how bad and unhealthy it is for me, yet still eat it. My tastebuds and stomach work great. I'm doing this to feel better, lose weight, and change my attitude about fatty meats, wheat & flour products, cereals, ice cream & dairy/cheeses, candy, sugars of all kinds, etc.
I'm finding that if I get hungry and start craving, a load of juice and some water will calm it down. Do I like it? Not particularly. Is it a PITA? Yes. But I'm on Day 6 and down 12 pounds?! That's unheard of! That gives me the incentive to keep going and see what's next, just how far I can go, and how much I can lose. I can already tell/ feel a difference, and I think I'm still just detoxing.
What pushed me into this was I blew out my favorite shorts, wore 'em out until they ripped. I had a new pair just like them in reserve, same size. But they were just a tad smaller, and they wouldn't fit. I went to Penny's for a size larger, and I was at the max size they carry, corporate-wide. No bigger than what I already couldn't fit into. I was faced with spending bug bucks at Omar The Tentmakers' just for a pair of fucking shorts.
Then Jer started this thread, I watched FS&ND, found a juicer at Goodwill, and here I are. Oh, the shorts fit fine now!
Jer started this thread about a week prior to my wife (who is an outstanding cook) left town for a month. It might prove too difficult with her kitchen skills but she's gone and I'm up for a challenge so I jumped on the bandwagon. However..... those containers of cashews & almonds on the shelf, my frequent daily snack, sure look better than they ever did before, hence my question about the craving for solid food, and if that ever retreats.
I've been keeping the produce stockers at Costco and Sprouts rather busy. A month on liquid....this should prove interesting.
Nope, but bad breath can be caused by a dry mouth. I was a bit light headed at end of the first day and up until this afternoon, I've kinda had what's like a low grade hangover feeling. I also stopped caffeine intake, and that might be part of it. Feel just fine now. That strawberry-banana one from Bolthouse Farms is now my favorite both for the taste and because it seems more filling than the others.
FYI I don't intend to do this long term like some of you other folks. Just a week or two to kick start things before heading back into the gym for old-fashioned exercise (except running for now of course).
It didn't for me. After a month and a half, I figured I was done, and went back to food again. I could have killed someone...... However, it's been a long time since I've done juicing, a year and 7 months ago, and I have only put on 20 of the +50 I lost (I don't exercise either). I gained it all the last month of school (April), I'm a stress eater... Haven't lost a pound, but haven't gained anything since either. I went from 307, to 250 - 252, back up to 270, and have just been hovering. I literally put on all 20 in April... I ate like a pig though, all fast food.... Stress eating was bad that month.
Actually, just checked before posting this, I'm at 268 right now, and just got back from dinner and a movie with friends.....
Yes, it does. The first few days are the worst. After that it gets better and you really only have to deal with the mental hunger which is to say you will crave foods but it's all mental.
It's a lot easier than I thought it would be.
That's good if this is working for you but it's technically not a juice fast. It's more of a low calorie diet using juice to replace some meals. In order to do a proper juice fast you can't take in ANYTHING but juice and water. You don't want to put anything in your digestive system at all and after some time your body starts converting fat to ketones for energy to supplant the lost calories from eating. Doing what you're doing might work alright at first but what will likely happen is that body will hit starvation mode and start storing even more of the small meals that you do put in your body. It's a delicate balance and the best and easiest way is to just do a full on juice fast if you're going to drink that much juice. The added food in your system will also make the times when you don't have food in your system worse since you will have physical hunger pretty much all the time.
Awesome!
That might be all you need to kick start things to get her to give you a hand whenever she gets back. Could even be something she might want to do and it might change your eating habits overall moving forward. All these things would be good things but what you need is a chance to try it out which it sounds like you've got so best of luck.
Dude, you gotta get a bidet add-on for your toilet! I don't use toilet paper anymore and it's glorious! Haha... I guess that's a topic for another thread though.
I think that I'm pretty close to breaking even and might even be saving some money over eating food since I ate out a fair amount before I started. You also have to account for the money you'll save on LOTS of things just through living a healthier lifestyle. Heart procedures are spendy.
A lot of the symptoms I read people having on a juice fast can be attributed to dehydration of various levels. Drink tons of water and you'll probably see most of these go away. I haven't had any symptoms that I see people having myself.
Sounds like someone is due for another juice diet!
