In a current Superbowl thread I commented about how much the Coke commercial with 'American the Beautiful' being sung in languages other than English upset me. I was met with criticism for my comments and subsequent stance & asked to explain exactly why it was I could possibly feel this way. Now maybe some will understand why.
Unfortunately, America has no national language adopted.
Anyway we can assist the students in having their patriotism week? We need to get a bunch of kids in red/white and blue for the week. Start getting suspensions handed out if the school wants, but do it for a week and Ill bet it makes national news. Might even start a trend all over the country, and go "viral" really making a whole lot of schools really go kookoo. And maybe, just maybe, we can get some of the tards in charge to rethink thier anti-offending-anyone policies. Which those policies offend me!
I keep hearing that but I'm pretty sure it's widely known that English is what's spoken in the US. This statement just feels like something the agenda has been feeding us for decades so we believe it. I remember a time when the instructions for items I bought were 100% in English. In fact, I feel like we SHOULD make a language official and it should be called American since English is what those busted grill British speak in England and that's clearly not what we speak here.
Since when did we start asking for permission to wear red, white & blue? Sounds like the next indoctrination right after convincing kids we have no official language.
It's amazing what a little Web search will do for you: https://fch.psdschools.org/directory
Our forefathers had this discussion about language. Remember this was and is an immigrant country. At no time when I say that do I mean open the borders and let whoever in. I would also note that the some of the immigration rules are ridiculous, possibly created by an agency similar to the IRS. I have known legal and illegal immigrants. I can tell you that it upsets the immigrants that are here legally and went through the proper channels immensely that they were required to do it and there is no requirement, so it seems, for others. I can tell you that the immigrants that I know that came here legally are more American and patriotic than a lot of people I know. They are military service members and/or veterans. They wave the flag with pride. They vote. And the ones that remember the nations they came from, they are extremely conservative.
After watching the video I have to say that I am not so concerned about the white vs. another race thing. I am extremely concerned at the dismantling of my nation and our culture. We have a culture in our country and it is not just an adoption from other nations. You can ask immigrants this and they will tell you. I do believe they're is an agenda to assimilate us to be one thing and I think that goes much deeper than race or color.
...in English.
This fact is not lost on me but it also isn't a fact that changes anything I've said. My ancestors came here from Germany & Russia and part of the coming here was learning the language. They actually took pride in learning the language as it was part of becoming accepted as an American among other Americans. Nobody wanted to NOT know English because they didn't want to stand out as not being American. Somewhere along the line we lost that pride in learning English and as a result I have to push 1 to get English instructions when I call a local store to find out if they have something in stock. My ancestors didn't expect instructions to be in English & German nor do we have instructions in EVERY language on earth so why Spanish? Seems to me if you genuinely wanted to be an American you'd want to speak the language and regardless of if it's been stated in ink somewhere the language here is English no matter what someone tries to convince you.
Part of the problem is that this is essentially what we've been doing but it's beside the point.
They're ridiculous for a reason. If it were simple then everyone who is here illegally would be here legally and we don't want that. We want those who have the motivation and drive to actually jump through a few hoops in order to EARN their citizenship. We want the smarter people who can fill out a form and make complex decisions. We don't want other country's rejects that will be a drain on our society because we already have enough of that. We want those who are willing to put in the effort to prove not only that they will be of benefit to our society but realize how important being a citizen actually is and that it's something that should be cherished and not taken lightly. Those who have gone through proper channels to do all of this are just as infuriated about the things I talk about as those who were born here and in most cases even more so because they of all people realize what an opportunity it is. Those people learn English and sing America the Beautiful in English.
So you're concerned about the dismantling of our nation and our culture but don't see where the English language or our treasured national anthems are part of this culture and even want to argue with me about it? Da fuh?
