I hope you're feeling better Sparky, my problem is ongoing. The right foot which they thought was gout was actually a Siamese bone that broke, had to go to Podiatry to get this figured out

Working with a walking boot as a electrician is no fun and it slows you down pretty bad but I was able do some work, ended up over doing it about a week ago and my left foot started hurt bad, went to see the doc, saw a nurse practitioner who said it was just inflamed which was believable. week later follow up with Podiatry, right foot much better but of course another 3 weeks in the walking boot for the bone to heal left foot has been declaired gout due to 6.8 UA level, cherry red big toe that hurts worse than the broke one did and this image

They say that "bite" out of the bone is characteristic of gout. at this point I am worthless, can't work, may as well try the cherry juice, as I'm home anyway

First, I try to find out it is radiating pain inflammation or sharp pain.
Of course gout has a sharp pain as well. Some MDs who doesn't have experience with gout patients, would misdiagnose it. It is not just raised uric acid, but also change in uric acid in the body as well.
I had a MD who did not know it was gout at Wardenburg Health Center.

I had some really bad foot pain. I changed from cheap tennis shoes and boots to quality footwear and the pain was gone in a week.
