Sure, it would offend some in dodging the stupid issues, but it would work. Abortion, gays, Islam touchy-feeling, they are landmines. Instead of trying to carefully maneuver the road, don't drive on it at all.

Why is it so damn hard? Every single viable loon ends up putting their foot in their mouth and falling for the media hooks. It's not that hard to know what is off limits and build a nice little mental wall.
